String comment = "A lot of people compare Goblin Slayer to Berserk, while claiming that the latter is better because the subject matter isnt just there to be edgy and hook readers. Berserk IS edgy, sometimes needlessly so. But it's an important reminder of the tone. The world is fucked morally and will only get worse from there. Nearly each and every time rape or torture happens to a character in Berserk, they don't deserve it happening to them. Innocence lost for the sake of causing an emotional reaction in the reader.
The rape in Goblin Slayer isn't necessarily to set the tone of the world, but an attempt to paint the goblins as the type of irredeemable chaotic evil that plagues people who underestimate it. Keep in mind, that a few moments afterwards, it presents the goblin babies, and even brings up the moral argument "what if some goblins were good?"
Goblin Slayer doesn't just push the question aside as naive, he concedes that it's possible. He also explains properly why he kills the goblin babies. GS's use of edge is to justify the titular character and the activities he will be partaking in throughout the series: wiping out gobs.";
