Not sure what it's like wherever you're from, but an argument for getting married over here in the UK is that married couples are financially better off than unmarried couples because tax etc takes it into consideration.

With that being said, I don't think I'll ever marry."

Try getting the document which tells your significant other that if a divorce happens it will reset you too the status quo. In California its nicknamed a "prenup" because if you divorce the other can't drill into your savings or pay. Its pretty common."

Marriage actually brings a lot of goods financially speaking.
>banks allow higher loans and better deals
>insurances have better deals for married couples
>double your earnings without the extra tax hassles
>tax credits for being married and having kids
>makes you more employable
>makes employers give you more money (especially bonuses)
>great bargaining chip for job/offers

I don't understand why so many people cry about marriage when it is the best institution to raise people out of poverty and have a stable family. It really isn't that hard to not fuck up a marriage...

>You lose your ability to have sex with other people
I have a partner for life, why the hell would I want to have sex with other people? Most of you are broken
>your ability to be alone on your own time
Not true, me and my wife have our alone times
>your ability to not be manipulated by someone who claims to love and cherish you forever
>your ability to not be manipulated by someone
Sounds like a made-up ability, oh wait it's called standing up for yourself, how spineless do you have to be to be manipulated by anyone..."

Some very good points. But, sometimes the two parties have very different incomes and/or credit ratings. Also children are never a good idea from a financial standpoint, lol."

>Don't get married for financial reasons

This is pretty dumb. If you have a decent job in the states (by decent I mean making at least 40k a year in most places) and don't have a bunch of debt to pay off, getting married is fine financially.

AS LONG AS ONE OF YOU DOESN'T FUCKING WORK!!!!!!

I can't stress that enough. You get a pretty hefty tax break, the one not working will cook food at home (they fucking better learn how, be it man or woman, if they don't know how) saving a lot of money because you don't eat out anywhere near as much, you earn a lot of money back at the end of the year to help you out with finances during the year too.

Having kids? You better believe that one of you better be a stay at home mom/dad or else you are completely fucked financially in regards to day care, needing a second vehicle, and going through disposable diapers instead of washing cloth ones.

Having both parents work is dumb as hell and taxes eat your ass alive all year AND at the end of the year to boot. Unless you are BOTH bringing home more than 30k a year each AFTER taxes, in the USA you are not doing anyone any favors at all by having both parents work.

To be fair, getting married is really hard to do these days without both parties working mainly because 18 year olds fresh out of school sign on for a ridiculous amount of debt at an atrocious APR with college loans for a degree that is worth very little in reality. Going in to a marriage where both parties are throwing in a combined debt of about 200k is pretty much requiring you both to work.

Maybe a clause for college loans should be made where if you get married and have a children and do not get a divorce for 20 years the debt will be forgiven with no payments due will help the population birth rates AND encourage long lasting marriage."

I never understood the fear of a woman mooching off of you/your insurance while you are married. As the likely breadwinner in my relationship, I'd want them to be able to get insurance through me if they can't get it on their own. I love them, I want them to be healthy and not scared to go to the doctor. I guess I'm just old-fashioned."
