You should ask the shop keeper how old it is. If it's already halfway through it's life span, maybe you can give it a happy last couple of years."

Yeah, it's about an hour's drive, by chance. And it seems kinda kismet, hearing about a charming female Eclectus on /an/ right in the middle of my search for the perfect bird companion. I stay home almost all of the day and I'm settled so this situation isn't likely to change so a bird like an Eclectus wouldn't be a bad choice. Obviously there is more to look into if this is the bird for me when I get there but she sounds like a gem and I'm off for two weeks so yeah I think I'll go see her. Bonus points, I'm pretty sure I have a friend who might also be interested but I want to meet her first."

An hour's drive for a healthy female Eclectus friendly in that kind of setting is pretty fucking dope, bro. Although I don't know her age, fecundity, past, etcetera. If I get her you can expect a post about her in the next 2 weeks. She will be a main companion bird although finding her a mate if she is in the appropriate age and health is not out of the question. No problem, I have been looking for a true companion bird."

Interesting. I would presume those two are most likely siblings or closely related or they would not be sold like that however in any case that indicates that the shop may have a breeding pair or certainly know a good deal about the birds or have contacts that do. That would be great."

Any time. That's my baby Caique, he'll be ready to come home in a few weeks. It took me a year of research and deliberating before I settled on a breed and decided I was ready to accept a parrot into my home.
Respect for being able to realize that you can't care for one. Too many people just watch cute videos on shit like Instagram and because that's all they see, think it's a cakewalk.
That said, parrots are a riot if you're prepared to care for one and I hope you end up in a situation one day than allow you to have one if that's what you want."

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==2747250 && dateTime=="07/12/18(Thu)17:16:10")

Also, on a side note that if you do purchase from there they give you life time free wing clippings, nail trimmings and beak buffing- I think on the last one. I also recieved a free toy, some food, a few strings of millet as well as a clip for it, and they send you off with a nice care package. They also will pay (mostly, you have to pay processing) for a free wellness check on the bird at a few local avian vets. If something wrong is found then you get a full refund."

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==2747254 && dateTime=="07/12/18(Thu)17:24:14")

Thanks for the info, maybe I will have a future friend from there."

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==2747272 && dateTime=="07/12/18(Thu)17:42:32")

Depends, it's a debated topic. Some people prefer fresh due to texture and the fact that it's fresh, some people claim that frozen is better because they're mostly frozen within a short time of being. picked (thus better preserving nutrients and whatnot). We already have a Senegal and she gets some of both, along with high quality pellets and whatever fruit is in season that's safe to give her. We plan on doing the same with the Caique.
Honestly, depending on how the bird was raised/weaned, the real difficulty might come in getting them to eat anything other than seed or whatever they're used to."

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==2747275 && dateTime=="07/12/18(Thu)17:45:34")

Thanks. So they really are like 2 year olds, they don't like to try new things."

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==2747288 && dateTime=="07/12/18(Thu)17:53:22")

It can be difficult, but like I said, it depends on how they're raised.
Works like that with toys, too, and species plays a part there. My girlfriend's Senegal might need a new toy put near the cage for a few days before she isn't terrified of it... Alternately, she might take to it immediately. My Caique is fearless, on the other hand. If he can get his beak on it, then he'll chew it, climb on it, or swing upside down from it. Both of them take well to new food, but my girl has always introduced the Sennie to new foods (has had her for 17 years) add the place that's hand feeding/weaning my Caique is really good about introducing all sorts of exciting stuff to the babies. We also bring fruit when we go visit."
