"Hello /an/, I recently found a large moth corpse and was wondering if you had any tips on preserving it. Are there any rookie mistakes I should be weary of? And if I wanted to make a collection what’s a humane way of killing insects or should I just wait to find corpses?";

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==2815594 && dateTime=="09/15/18(Sat)11:38:25")

Moths are generally pinned, spread, and dried. If your moth corpse is still pliable, get it in a airtight ziplock and freeze it, it'll keep that way until you can acquire the materials needed to pin it for a collection

I think the most humane way to kill live insects is to bag them and freeze them. It's really convenient for robust insects like flies, wasps and beetles, but not so great for butterflies and moths, who beat themselves into shit-quality specimens if they aren't calm."

Are you sure that those spiders aren't keeping the roaches out of those rooms?"

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==2822851 && dateTime=="09/22/18(Sat)19:38:01")

Roaches are only present in kitchen and bathroom because there's everything there that they need and that's originally their point of entry into my apartment (through the ventilation there). So they have no reason to move further, pretty sure live somewhere under the sink.
Spiders live in the living rooms and on the balcony, where the humidity is low and no human food bits can be found for roaches to snack on, this is probably why they don't go there.
Looks like I'll have to do the old good laced egg bits thing."

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==2823146 && dateTime=="09/23/18(Sun)02:12:14")

I disagree to a point. This will help but there will always be anervous instinct - until you get true experience keeping them. Every time they make an unsuspected move or suddenly attack their prey out of nowhere you will jump and get startled. This instinct disappears over time, though. This is why it's never recommended to get old worlds as first ts. The second they bolt or startle you (they can be very unpredictable, even when you peg them as fairly docile and lax t, you may over react and injure your t, which is obviously the opposite of what you want. You'll learn over time that if you remain calm and use slow, calculated movements you will never exacerbate the problem. This is directed toward the other guy lol. What I'm saying is there is only so much preparation you can do online."

All I've ever seen were 2-3mm max in any direction. I remember when I found my first one, it was in the 1980s so no internet and the library was bereft of insect info. I dubbed it, "pseudoscorpion," on the count that it looked exactly like a scorpion minus the tail. The very next week I got the latest edition of Ranger Rick magazine and they had an article about them and I was thrilled that it was named the same as I named it. It seems there's an eyeless species of pseudoscorpion too;which lives in caves.

I've seen only 5 pseudoscorpions since then.

Bad plan. At L4 they will already be too big to realistically live off fruit flies, never mind when they get to triple that size as adults.

The second still has the queen faithful, sitting on her nest, and slowly building it larger.
I have fed her runny honey, beer, maple syrup, red bull, and manuka honey dipped in water. Some of the potions she takes, most she snaps at. I wonder if she realises she is on my property (I expect she does). I wonder if she thinks of us as neighbours. I doubt she realises she is my queen. I bring her honey and she snaps at the twig with honey on the tip and then ignores me... oh the pain and confusion of rejection. Does she hate me, does she never want to see me again?

Will she stay, and make me a nest of several dozen wasps, like last year? Is she scared of me? I am only 10,000 times bigger than her. But she can fly, and I can not, which makes her 10,000 times bigger than me.
