*READ THE GUIDE*

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions, as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here!
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

>Why are my pictures sideways?
4chan strips EXIF data from images when they're uploaded to the website from your phone, including the orientation display tag. To solve this, save your images out separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the image itself for you.
One commonly used app that works well on Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplemobilephotoresizer

I'm spraying at about the right distance onto a primed piece and the paint isn't even, it gets all "loose" and after drying, I still see the primer through the paint, I attempted to try multiple coats but still cannot get an even paint layer. I'm a rattlecan pleb at the moment so all of this is done by spraying with cans, airbrushing isn't possible for me yet.
So far I've shaken the can as much as possible between spraying, and I'm spraying indoors in a well ventilated area, I don't know what else I can do."

In theory middleman sites such as j-subculture or buyee should work fine for ordering directly from the P-bandai site.
They usually charge a minor fee for their service as well as the usual shipping.
I personally use j-subculture for any orders that must be made domestically in Japan and they have had an excellent track record for me. Comparing their service fee to the markup that gentei offers the final price ends up generally being the same.

If you're looking for older P-Bandai kits though, you can give Mandarake a try and compare the prices of whatever is in stock to scalper prices.
Here's an example of Pale Rider (Space) on Mandarake vs. an ebay listing. It's still a better deal than what you would pay even on Gundam Planet ($45 without shipping) assuming they still had it in stock."

Yes, and also Tamiya basic putty, or you can clip tiny pieces of runner off and put them into the bottle, dissolving them into a sort of liquid plastic cement. I haven't tried this myself yet but I have heard it works quite well (some people call it sprue glue)

>Also, a good topcoat rattle can? I remember reading that topcoats will hide any marks caused by sanding
Mr. Hobby's Mr. Topcoat for an acrylic topcoat or their Mr. Super Clear for a lacquer topcoat. Matte topcoats will hide sanding marks and even orange peel if it's not too bad, gloss ones will not."

The promo pics show that the white and yellow on the combo kit are clearly different while the blue looks to be about the same. However, I was looking at some Asian video reviews and noticed something peculiar. The blue on the combo kit appears to be much brighter than promo pics let on (look at the feet side-by-side), turning a color scheme I thought looked better into one that's absolutely worse.

This could just be a fault of the video camera used, so I wanted to ask anyone with the combo kit: Is the blue really that much brighter than the regular kit? Raw OOB pics that aren't the expansion kit are hard to find, giving me trouble in confirming this on my own."

Godmars is pretty cool, pretty standard articulation when combined but the parts aren't as a perfect fit as a modern day Bandai kit. The included decals arem't the best but they'll do the job ok if you're just snap fitting it. There's a shit-ton of leftover parts from the individual robot modes too, Gaia's got no involvement in the actual combination.

I'm fine with the final result however since I've been wanting a Godmars at this scale ever since the SRC prototype got shown off like 4-5 years ago and never came out. The only major qualm is that the paint apps on the head piece of my copy weren't the greatest, but that's more of a luck issue. I got the Juushin Liger Mazinkaiser preordered so I'll see if the paint apps/build quality is a line issue or just related to Godmars."

Now I'm interested in making a fully custom 1/28 cast resin model of a completely unique design (of my own creation) with fully removable armor, transformable wave rider mode, and actual metal joints made out of billet stock aluminum. For paint I'm thinking about priming with 24k gold leaf and and then going for something like chrome plus opalescent plus pearlescent that also emits its own light and becomes negative in sunlight. Also I think I'm going to use a nano-reactive topcoat so that even stationary it shimmers with movement, basically like my pic. I don't really have any tools yet but I've found some really expensive ones online from nihon (that means japan, I would never use inferior western supplies lol) so I should be able to easily make this. Nah, it'd either get a P-Bandai variant of the MG 2.0, or they'd do a 3.0 Zaku II (with a Kai being either normal or P-Bandai of the hypothetical 3.0) with the amount of mold reuse they'd get out of that. Zaku is one of the most popular designs, they wouldn't use a RE/100 for that."

I don't ever paint anything like my Cryx jacks because i cannot achieve an even coat unless its so thick /tg/ weeps. I'll take the bait; No one should ever buy GW (Citadel) paints. Any /tg/ denizen already knows about GW's jewry. Their Citadel bottles are deliberately designed to not seal properly and make your paint dry out if you don't use it fast enough. They are completely unnecessary when there are infinitely better alternatives for airbrushing/rattle can (Tamiya, Mr. Color) and hand painting (Vallejo).

>wargame miniatures don't have noticeable seams
Seams are still fairly common on HG kits and pretty much require painting to cover up."

They are shitty and i know all the reasons their paints are bad, but I don't know of any other spray paints designed for models (most people who want that sort of thing use air brushes) so i thought I'd bring it up. So Tamiya and Mr Color make modelling spray paint cans? I'll look into that, but I'm guessing it has the same downsides. Citadel paints certainly do dry out fast, but i live very close to a Games Workshop (their rental agreement mean they cant rename the shop to warhammer world, which amuses me) so i do sometimes still use citadel paints just because of convenience. Other than that I've used Army Painter and Vallejo.

That's disappointing to hear about the seams, but not terribly surprising given supposedly these things snap fit."

Man you are so unbelievably full of shit.
I own 2007 HGUC kits and I own the 1997 1/100 HG Wing kits. They are not even close to comparible.

The 1/100 HG Wing kits are flimsy, badly proprotioned, badly engineerd, have lots of pieces that are not colored, terrible seamlines and weak joints that make it so they can't even stand upright. Look at pic related, which is the HG 1/100 TGIII. Don't be fooled by the picture, because I can assure you that it's almost impossible for it to even stand upright for longer than a minute before it collapses under it's wieght.

Now take a HG Zaku I sniper, The powered GM, the Hazel-II (actually a 2006 kit!) and they are miles ahead of those terrible 1/100 HG kits.

I don't know what point you are trying to make, but stating that the 1990s 1/100 HGs are anywhere near the 2007 HGUCs is completely false."

The Sinanju has a really floppy waist joint which will make the upper body lean over at certain angles. People mainly complain about the articulation and posability but it isn't that bad.

The red plastic is also factory gloss on extremely stiff plastic. It pretty much cracks when snipping it off the runner and leaves stress marks often. It's also really hard to clean up the nubs without fucking the gloss surface. There's not too many undergates either to hide them, especially on the gold plated parts.

It's still an okay kit besides those big faults. You'll want to buy decals too because the stickers will start peeling because of the really curved surfaces.

The Amatsu Mina also has the same stiff gloss top black plastic which really show on the wings because the huge nubs are in plain sight. You'll end up wanting to paint it if you get it. The Red Astray is a really solid kit overall, can't really find any faults with it.

Building the Qanta next and people here said it's really good."

>Draw lines on part you wanna add panel lines to
>Put on some masking tape to pick up the ink and remove the tape so you can apply it to thin plaplate
>Cut out the shape from the plaplate
>Apply ____ (Some sort of glue IDK what kind though) to the part
>Place the plaplate on the part
>Scribe the lines on the part by following the plaplate as a guide
>Remove the plaplate and you'll have the lines done in

Yesterday I tried to use it and paint some pieces to practice and god, im bad as fuck with this thing
First of all, I used acrylic paint, thinnig with wather (and later with alcohol) and is pain in the ass to get the perfect consistency to work in the airbrus, until I realized it was brush acrylic paint, so I need to move on and buy new acrylic paints for airbrush and thinner
Is there any inconvenience for using brush paint beside the airbrush one?"

Kind of looks like you thinned it too much instead? Try a few mixes of primer/thinner.

Wait are you sayiong your rattlecan primer has the same effect? Now that IS weird and in that case there is something wrong with the enviroment you are painting in."

Do people like you even read the guide? You NEED to use thinner with acrylics, not water or alcohol. Get the appropriate thinner for the paint to you are using or it will turn into a mess.

You can use any acrylic paint (even "brush") if you thin it properly. What paint are you even using?"

I got the regular version and it's one of the best MGs I've built so far. The thing is big and bulky, very solid and has a good weight to it. It can hold a pose very well. The fuel hoses are made of very squishy rubber, similar to things fishing grubs are made of. You'll just need to super glue them on. It looks like the only difference in the two kits after looking at reviews and the runners are the wrist armors. Definitely not worth the markup from most places selling it for almost double the price of the regular version just for two small pieces."

Never use water with Japanese paints. Acrylic Japanese paints like tamiya and mr hobby are made with alcohol solvents.

For the consistency, aim for 1 part 2 parts thinner. Measure it if you can’t eye ball at this stage.

So 5ml paint, 10ml thinner for example"
