Was thinking of heading to Latin America because it seems more open to foreigners integrating and living there semi long-term (compared to SEA/Asia).

Trying to avoid running into a bunch of America boomers (like Costa Rica) or 'passport bros' in DR/Colombia. But still want somewhere comfy to NEET, lift weights, learn the local language etc. Thinking maybe Brazil? Portuguese means higher barrier to entry, plus it's further from U.S./Canada. Imagine streets lined with dilapidated buildings, their crumbling facades bearing witness to the decay that consumes us. Every corner harbors the stench of hopelessness, a suffocating reminder of our dire circumstances. And amidst this desolation, the insect-like behavior of the population thrives, each individual consumed by their own struggle for survival, oblivious to the suffering of others.
The government's iron grip tightens with each passing day, snuffing out any semblance of freedom or hope. We're treated like mere pawns in a twisted game of power, our voices silenced, our dreams crushed underfoot.
But I refuse to surrender to this fate. I refuse to accept that this is all life has to offer. I yearn for escape, for a chance at a better tomorrow. My eyes are set on America or Canada, where I believe I can find the freedom and opportunities that elude me here.
If you have any shred of knowledge or advice on how to break free from this hellish existence and make my way to America or Canada, please, I implore you, share it with me. Your words could be the beacon of hope that guides me out of the darkness.'

Fill in the countries and subdivisions you have visited, talk about your map and ask others about their maps. You can use the map however you like, the colors are more like suggestions, you don't have to use them, and you don't have to use all of them. You can add or remove colors and change the map as much as you want in any way you want. Don't like this map? Upload a completely different one. Up to you. Despite what some might say, there's no "wrong" way to use the map, and new posters and less travelled people are welcome and encouraged to stay and post :) This map is a group effort by our board, and we can only improve it if people reach out to share suggestions or corrections.

This is the newest edition of the map, edition 4.0.4, updated for January 2024. I'll post the simplified template in the next post. Changelog:

    Subdivision changes
    >Added Southwest Papua province of Indonesia (located in the northwest of Papua)
    >The Central African Republic created three new prefectures in 2020 that I wasn't aware of before now
    >Following a referendum in August 2023, Ethiopia's Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region was finally dissolved and split into Central and South Ethiopa Regional State
    >Norway reversed some of the merged counties from 2020 and now consists of an unholy mix of 15 old and new counties
    >Following the war with Azerbaijan, Artsakh has been dissolved and removed from the map
And this is why we travel lads. A country just disappeared overnight. The old Artsakh has been added as DLC.'

Is it worth it to add the extra day? Or is this all hopelessly cramped? I feel pretty good about the first 5 days since a day and a half exploring the city proper of antigua is enough (is this assumption correct?) and the volcano hike will be great. I wonder if I'm spending enough time in lake atiticalan/tikal tho. I read 2 days in tikal is enough, though you could do more. So my question is: is two days at lake atiticalan enough? I'd mostly want to hop on taxi boats and explore the villages and maybe do a hike one morning/sunset.'

    2. Tips for solo travel - Never travelled solo before and never for this long. I'd like advice on staying, travelling, sightseeing etc balancing money whilst not compromising on safety.

/rcg/ was initially created as a way for the roller coaster enthusiasts on here to discuss all things roller coasters and theme parks. While roller coasters are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other theme parks, their rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /tpg/ comes in.
    >Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?
Absolutely! Disney discussion of all sorts including rides/resorts/dining/trip planning is OK.

Thread Tip Pro: When in line for a coaster with a bunch of normies, feel free to autistically infodump to them every single iota of information you know about the ride you are about to go on: opening date, manufacturer, # of inversions, stats etc.

Want to potentially stay for longer than the 90 days of the tourist visa allows, but don’t know the best way to go about it. You can’t change a tourist visa to any other visa type while you’re in Japan as far as I know. Money isn’t a concern.

Student visa would require me to be at a language school 20 hours a week, which I’m not entirely opposed to, but really don’t want to be locked down to one area.

I’ve read of people getting work visas and then quitting their job once they get to Japan. The visa remains attached to the person, not the company, and (apparently) as long as you prove to immigration every 3 months that you are actively looking for a new job (if they even contact you), you’re good to go.

From US so working holiday visa isn’t an option.

I’ve been researching this incessantly online and would appreciate any input or advice.'

So I just booked a flight to Japan next month May 3 to Jun 1 and I'd like to hear any tips or reccomendations from those who have visited there or anywhere in the Orient really.

This seems like one of the best months to travel there. Golden Week is just ending so less crowds and just before the wet season and before summer vacation for much of the world. I got a large backpack and plan to buy a second hand piece of luggage to load up with goodies before I head back.

I know there might be a bit of a culture shock when I get there so I am doing my best to be prepared as this country is probably the most "different" country I have been to. So please share any thoughts or your experience in the matter. I am a well off male around 40 and I am planning on staying at a variety of different properties including ryokans, capsule hotels, hostels and Marriott properties as I am a Ambassador Elite with them. Also, I love hot springs and considering walking the Nakasendo Trail. A good primer or must knows would be very helpful for my trip. Thanks!'

I’m sure many anons can attest to the fact that London feels like a collection of towns rather than a city. London has about double the land area of New York despite having a similar population. Londoners don’t even consider anything outside of Zone 1 or 2 properly London.

The first claimed benefit of London is history but this I believe is a misconception. Much of London is recently built urban sprawl. Difference is London (whose modern history really starts in late 1600) retained its historical centre while New York tore it down. The historical feel is minute compared to somewhere in Italy or southern France.

The second claimed benefit is ease of travel to the continent which is of course advantageous but how many impromptu European trips are you really going to make? I feel New York’s relative close proximity to Boston and upper New England or even to Pennsylvania is often ignored. There isn’t much to explore beyond the London’s city centre.

Not to stray into politics but the only reason why London has retained its prominence is because the UK government chooses to ignore all other areas in the country. The decline of the UK on the global stage and therefore London itself should be considered; how much longer will London retain the prestige associated with it?'

    my original plan is
    >apply for jobs and find rent before coming
    >go to some popular expensive state like NY, CA or MA
    >share an apartment with 1 or 2 roommates
    >pay around 700-1000/month and only use that place to sleep. spend most time outside.
    >get 1 or 2 low skill jobs (around 3k/month) so I don't have to live off my savings (less than 6k)
    >rely mostly on public transit to get to work
    >do this for a month or a few months, while saving some money and looking for job in my domain.
    >get a job in my domain (won't be easy especially right now for computer science)
    >go from here...

I will eventually have to move somewhere else. because I don't like metropolitan areas, and I don't like having roommates.
is there a state that is affordable but still has good job opportunities?
somewhere with good nature and non autistic people.
people recommended going to some midwestern state like indiana. but I heard people say people there are kinda autistic.
I can just go there from the start maybe and rent would be cheaper. but not sure how easy it would be to find a job there.
maybe I can stay there until I find a job in my domain another state. that could also work.

is my original plan retarded or is it doable? should I do something else?
is going back to college in the US worth it? even if it's only to socialize and develop a network.

tldr. I am still not decided yet, the us is huge and there are too many options to choose from. any tips in general?'

The problem is, the only thing this guy talks about is his music and shows. He's obsessed with it. While I'm happy for him, he doesn't actually take much interest in my life. I probably see him once every few weeks.

I've gone on roadtrips with him where we haven't really said a single word, because we don't really talk. I dread hanging out with him without our larger friend group because either we don't talk at all while hanging out or we only talk about him & his music.

I don't know why he wants me to go with him, I think it's to split the costs since no one else wants to go. The thing is, I feel like I'm pretty much just a background character to him. This whole trip to him is to advance him musically I don't really know if I'll be able to fuck off and do things by myself.

I'm trying to think positively about this, especially since I told him I'd go with him, but we haven't booked anything. I've never been to Europe. Is it worth going under these conditions? It would be a 2.5 week trip.'

String comment = 'My buddy and I are planning a 1.5 week holiday to visit Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Reykjavik this summer, thinking about spending 3 days in the first two, 2 days in Copenhagen, and then an afternoon and overnight in Reykjavik. We're both interested in history and cool museums. I'm suggesting that we stay in hostels, since they're cheap and pretty friendly from my experience in the Benelux. Any recommendations for places to go, stay, or eat at?
    >Oslo
Viking Ship Museum, Akershus Fortress, Frognerseteren, Kon-tiki and Fram Museums
    >Stockholm
Djurgarden + Museums, all the stuff in Gamla Stan, the Hornstulls Strand
    >Copenhavn
Rosenborg Castle, Kastellet, Christiansborg Slot, Stroget Street
    >Reykjavik
Viking Settlement Exhibit, and the downtown walking area, not enough time for a driving tour

On that topic, which language has the most cognates across the group?'

I have an online job and I want to save a large amount of money over the course of a year. I'm not gonna live out of my car and I'm not gonna live out of a tent. Somewhere with my own stove, shower, and bathroom would be ideal.';
