I have this tiny chihuahua-mix(i think?) dog. Technically, it was my mom's, but im taking care of her after she passed away. Shes getting old, I think she just turned 12 this month, but shes still pretty energetic and seems quite healthy.
Anyway, shes been eating pretty much only kibble her whole life. Purina Pro-plan, mostly, since thats what her vet recomments, but im trying to mix it up with other brands so she doesnt get bored. But I just feel sad for her, eating the same fucking dried meme food your whole life, even for a dog, this shit must be depressing... I tried making her food myself a few times, both chicken legs, boiled them, boiled some rice, and some veggies that are okay for dogs to eat(mostly tried with green beans) and she absolutely loved it.
But then, every time I go to the vet, she seethes at me and tells me to never feed her "human" food...
I dont get it, is she actually right or is it some shill trick to make me keep buying expensive dog food from her?
I mean on one hand, I can see it, there are probably plenty of vitamins, minerals and whatever nutrition that the dogs needs that I would probably not incorporate in her homemade food properly, but on the other, dogs existed for millions of years, its not like they were doing bad before kibble was invented, surely.. And its not like I trust all those meme brands to really be "THE BEST FOR THE DOG" as their advertise, they literally put the cheapest garbage meat and veggie leftovers in their production.

The other is a normal sifting litterbox. They sit out on the unfinished concrete next to the living room.
Unfortunately, one of the cats decided it was a better idea to start peeing all over the base boards and the bottom landing of the stairs. Now there is piss soaked all over and up into the wood.
I have tried enzymatic cleaners over a period of 1.5 years and they don't do it. I've used multiple vacuums. I've tried spraying deterrent and using reusable pee pads temporarily. Nothing works.
How the fuck do I deal with this--both from the cat perspective and from the home improvement project. I can't get rid of one of the cats since they're sisters. They both use the robot litterbox, but sometimes one of them chooses the carpet/baseboard.
The second part is that I have to tear out the carpet and baseboards. I assume I'll have to do this for my whole staircase (~17 steps, bottom landing, and middle landing). What do you think this will cost me w/ a general contractor?
I prefer hardwood and I have hardwood everywhere but my stairs going up to the second floor and loft.
I hate this and I'm embarrassed to even bring repairmen into my house.';

I took her to the vet a few months ago and discovered she has kidney disease, with one failed kidney but the other apparently working just fine. She also has trouble sleeping and defecating.

Just a little update on that terrarium I made for an isopod that was trying to yeet itself into my sink-it's going pretty well.
I added some stuff, got a low level heat bulb for the light system so that the tank isn't freezing ass cold at night while I'm at work, and I got myself a hissing cockroach. He's pretty cool; named him Prince because he acts like a little spoiled princess.
The isopod population basically exploded in the tank and went from about six or seven that i added in myself, to easily over forty now, which is pretty cool. I got some springtails when I picked up the roach, so those are in there as well, and I plan on getting some worms.
It's a fun little ecosystem and it's been keeping me on the straight a bit better. I've been eating healthier because I feed the scraps to the hisser, and i don't want to feed him anything that could hurt him, so fresh foods are in my fridge now. Also been keeping a more consistent schedule because I have to manually turn the lights on for them and give the tank a good misting.';
