sew, crochet, basic knitting (also just got a flatbed knitting machine), basic embroidery, some wig making (but not styling), leathercraft, learning to spin. i also have access to an industrial embroidery machine but the software gives me a headache

>What is your current project?
I had to put them all down at the moment for school/work, but:
Primary: Commission of Maid-Sama Plushies for a friend
Secondary: Maid Ichigo cosplay from Tokyo Mew Mew (It's like 80% done and watching it sit there is so frustrating, but I have no goddamn time or energy rn)
Tertiary: Tackling my pile of project clothes. They need tailoring, mending, or flipping to make them wearable and make their way back into my closet."

the copyright for the machine is in the user manual.
It will also clearly mention your model number in there; google / ebay for extra parts; first suggestion is a ruffle foot.

Protips;
>always pre-wash and dry your fabric the way you will launder it in the future BEFORE cutting anything out.
>always finish edges of fabric pieces with a straight stitch or a zigzag before actually sewing the pieces together.
>always iron everything between steps of assembly

"Honestly this is a dumb fucking question but do I really need special needles to knit lace? I can do basic knitting and I've crocheted lace before, but I really want to knit lace. It's delicate in a way crochet lace isn't.
I've seen needles with longer tips being advertised as being for lace and I've also seen some people recommending using wooden needles, which personally I cannot stand (I like all my hooks and tools to be metal, preferably steel). I'd like to purchase a good set of metal interchangeable needles and I'm torn between getting ones meant for lace and ones meant for general purpose."

Not correct. You are thinking of fray check. Finishing stitches should be sewn after each seam is sewn. Sew the seam and sew the finishing stitch.
>always iron everything between steps of assembly
Again incorrect. Use a steamer. Unless OP can't afford anything else, there is no reason in the current year to ever use a traditional iron unless it's for pleating or something."

Fray check is an adhesive-related substance that can leave a rough edge. I finished the raw edges of a jacket in that stuff once and basically never wore it again after the first time out; the fray check kept rubbing against my skin and leaving marks. Zig-zagging along the edge or using a binding seam just does the job without risk of making the garment uncomfortable. I'd say fray check is okay for doing the edge of anything that will be turned over twice (think a skirt hem) but nothing where it might touch your body."

You can find these free online if you visit certain shadow library type sites (I don't think I'm allowed to link to those)

English language:
>Knit One, Bead Too
>Beaded Crochet Designs (This book also has peyote stitch/bead weaving despite the title)
>Tapestry Bead Crochet
>Learn to Bead Crochet (generic title might make it hard to find. it's published by American School of Needlework, now owned by Annie's/DRG publishing)
>Embellished Crochet - Bead, Embroider, Fringe, and More
>Bead Crochet Snakes
>Bead Crochet Ropes

Japanese (I've included photos of the covers and names of publishers of these because they tend to have very generic names and sometimes go by different names depending on how the title was translated)
>Beads Knitting (Not sure of the publisher of this one. Google translate gave me "Kotomi Hayashi" for the author and "Cultural Press" for the publisher)
>Beads Crochet Edging (Nihon Vogue)
>Beads Work Motif Edging Braid (Asahi)
>Beadswork Mini Motif Pattern (Asahi)
>Handmade Beads Crochet (Seibido)

Hope this helps! Bonus: I have a book about beaded macrame called "Beaded Macrame Jewelry""

9. Pendant – Cross
Intertwine two identical bases in a “weaving” technique without a loom (Figure 1). On figure 2 the sizes of the base are shown. Then sew(?) the face side of the cross according to Figure 3. Then line both of them up (or like put them back to back same meaning) the bases of both parts and sew them together connecting them by the sides, adding additional beads as you do so. At the end sew the cross to a chain."

The GLB definitely had multiple rectangle headdress patterns but I can't recall which ones exactly.

You can make a fine rectangle headdresses without a pattern though. I mean, it's basically just two rectangles of fabric sewn together, tastefully decorated with some lace on top plus ribbons to tie it or something to clip it on your hair/wig on the bottom side, and voilà. It's one of the easiest things to make from total scratch imo."

"My current project is turning a stuffed animal into a purse. It’s a really old plushie from maybe the 1970s, it was a ‘talking’ stuffed animal and had a nonworking battery and speaker inside it. There was a broken zipper on the bottom too. and i realized it can fit some stuff inside!
. I took the battery out, but had to cut up the bottom of the plushie a bit to get it out. My plan is to cover the bottom part with some cloth and re-add the zipper there.
Currently finished washing it and removed all the gross stuffing. Letting it air dry now. Will have to find stuffing for it.
It’s going to be so cute. My sewing skills are not great. I can see a button. But i think it will be good enough for this project"

It looks bad because it is my first project but I am so excited to finally be sewing at 25 because before I would get gaslit and accused of throwing sewing needles on the floor because "you should be searching for a man." I lived with my parents/they would pay my loans so I had no say before but I finally found a job that is related to my degree so I can finally allow myself this. I'm incredibly excited. Please post pics when you're done or at least let us know how it turns out. This is something I've been curious about doing for a while
>>10684631
Technically you can do this, you'd be best off with a 4 way stretch knit (you could make it work with a 2 way stretch knit if you cut it so the stretch was perpendicular to your leg, but it would likely be uncomfortable), I just don't recommend doing it, because you would have uncomfortable seams on the side of your feet. The way modern hosiery is knit is in the round, so they only have seams at the toe and sometimes heel (depending on construction).
Why do you need to make your own stockings anyways? Surely you can find them in any solid color or get some printed if you wanted a specific pattern. It seems like way too much trouble for a subpar product to make it yourself"
