Start by reading the first 32 pages. Don't worry about copying the drawings yet. Pay attention to the basic proportions pages. When you're done, got to page 38.
Pages 38-49: 2 weeks. Take your time learning the mannequin. Try drawing it in various poses.
Pages 50-56: 1 week
Then spend 1 week going back and studying the pages that were skipped.
Don't just copy! Try redrawing Loomis' drawings from memory after your initial copy, and take note of what you got wrong. Apply what you've learned to photo reference and try inventing figures from imagination.

No, drawing more isn't gonna make you a better artist. Rote drawing is the absolute worst form of learning. It teaches you how to freehand curves and straight lines, but past that it doesn't really teach you anything.
10 minutes of quality observation and studying is worth more than a lifetime of rote drawing.
For example: how many hours of drawing are you gonna learn the main muscle groups that goes from shoulderblade to arms (one of the most important places of anatomy to learn)? Some people have drawn their *entire lives* and never learn this. However, 5 minutes spent reading Uldin Zari's Anatomy for Sculptures and you gain this knowledge.
Sure, does practice matter? Yes. But guided practice and being mindful of what exactly you're trying to achieve with this practice is often the most overlooked skill in art education.

Thing is I'm not a huge media consoomer so I don't really have a lot of characters in mind that fit what I want to draw (I don't want to draw something out of character). I also don't like taking characters from media I didn't consoom, I respect art too much to just draw those characters without knowing them.
Making OC's doesn't really fix my problem, I would design as many characters as drawing I wanna make so there's no point.
I really don't see a way out except getting so good at designing characters that I can whip them up without much thought.

The crude symbolic drawing or simplified anime style is closer to the divine source of existence. Attempting to copy reality as it exists ultimately pushes one away from contact with God.
This is why Steven Zapata's art is boring and appears to have no philosophical or symbolic meaning, despite his insistence to the contrary.
Realism objectifies nature in a way that distances the observer from true symbolic contact with the "Idea" of art. Artists who obsess over realism and want to capture "reality" and all of its minutae are actually barking up the wrong tree. They are lost looking at trees, and cannot see the forest.
Stylized art provokes a higher dreamlike state of consciousness by default. In this state, one experiences a direct line to the "Idea" of awareness itself, the raw omnipresent symbolic representation of cosmic truth. It has a sort of strength of clarity. As realistic elements are added (I.E, more and more detail, more and more naturalistic lighting, anatomy, etc,) the less impactful the symbolism.
Stylized art represents conceptual ideas in a way that realism (and even semi-realism) never can. This is why stylized art tends to accompany stories that are highly skewed towards meaning and theme. Only stylized art can capture the truly cosmic and divine.
