"Introduction to Mediterranean saltwater float fishing aka inglese.
What is inglese; born during the 90s in Florence Italy inglese is essentially match float fishing in saltwater, when Italybros started using the well and tested "English" style lake float fishing in salt water. It is a very chill (you do everything siting down) yet quite technical and if done correctly very rewarding.
A match fishing rod 4.20 mtrs long is the established all rounder with CW 25-30grms max
A match fishing reel 1000-2500 max (eg.shimano Catana) they come with shallow and short spools)
Mono for your reel a good begginers diameter is 0.20 to 0.18 mm diameter 200mtrs are more than enough
Fluorocarbon 0.16 to 0.14 for the leader
10-16 size hooks for match fishing

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==1391720 && dateTime=="11/05/18(Mon)03:51:51" && image=="211014-tommy_waggler-close-up.jpg")

An assortment of floats 2-8gr (they come into two main variations the stick; a straight waggler and the teardrop made of usualy of either plastic or balsa wood) when picking them out you will notice a plus number next to their weight (eg.4+X) where X is the weight needed to equalise the float. +2 is preferred to make proper castable rig.
A box of assorted fishing buckshot of various weights (small weights made of soft tin that we attach underneath the float to make it both equalised and castable)
Small sized snap-swivels to connect the float to your line
A 8 to 15grms weight to measure the depth of your fishing spot (important)
Bait(live works best)
A bait catapult (better than your gf)
The usual shit like a pair of pliers , a landing net etc

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==1391722 && dateTime=="11/05/18(Mon)04:07:55" && image=="images.png")

Stoppers for your float either a silicone tube or a piece of dacron or even dental floss
The tecnique
We can fish almost anywhere from rocks at a jetty or a pier etc, (ofc not in extreme wind or heavy waves) so long as we can see our float.
First thing to do when we arrive is measure the depth; using a snap swivel we attach the float on our main line(moving freely) and tie our leader with a small weight at the end. We attach a stopper above the float on our main line at roughly the depth we believe the place we want to fish has and we cast.
If we can't see the float at all it means we need to move the stopper higher if we see the float but it is laying horizontally it means it is swallow and we need to move it lower on our line. We keep on casting and adjusting until we can see only the red tip of the float among the waterline.
Congratulations we now know the exact depth and thus we can adjust the float at the exact height from the seafloor we wish to fish(depends on the fish we are targeting from rockfish at the bottom to mid and top water dwelers)

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==1391726 && dateTime=="11/05/18(Mon)04:20:56" && image=="waggler-rig31.jpg")

We attach our hook and start equalising the float by adding buckshot to the line, at first we will load our line with roughly the 2/3rds to 3/4ths of the weight needed to equalise as floating is effected by waves and wind (eg. for a 6+2 float where 2 are the grms needed to equalise we load the line with roughly 1.5 to 1.8grms). Cast a few times and add or subtract accordingly so that you can only see the tip of the float out of the water.
Put some bait on your hook and cast. You can now sit down(integral part of the experience) point the rod downwards to avoid the wind interference and just keep an eye on your float. When you see unusual movement (not just the tip disappearing underwater but also moving slightly left or right of your cast point) pull that sucker in.

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==1391729 && dateTime=="11/05/18(Mon)04:35:06" && image=="IMAGE_232.jpg")

Finally to be even more productive as the sea is not lake we need to put some ground bait in the water so that the fish will come to us.
The best bait to use is small maggots, fly larvae and or ready made ground bait. With your catapult target your float and start flinging those jucy maggot directly on top of your float. Careful not to go over the top as we want to entice the fish to hit your hook, not to feed them. Start with quite a lot before your first cast and thereafter with just a few maggots with every cast.
For more in depth analysis on rigs, depth finding and ground baiting just google the freshwater variant as most of it is the same with the size being the biggest difference. Also don't pump that rod like there is no tomorrow as the line diameters and your reel are made for finese and not a caveman. Fight the fish with really loose breaks and tire it.
Finally sorry about my English it is obviously not my forte."

I guess it depends on the sunglasses you buy, as you can buy sunglasses that arent polarized but still block the UV rays. If you happen to get a pair of non polarized sunglasses that don't your pupils will dialate letting in more UV rays than if you weren't wearing. But if you buy polarized you know they're going to offer the best UV protection."

It changes the way a person perceives light, looking through tinted auto glass causes rainbows, a lot of displays these days rely on polarization filters. The list goes on and on.

As long as there is certainty that the lens blocks 100% UV, broad spectrum, there is no worry. A neutrally tinted glass is just a NDF over your eyes. It does not change other aspects of perception.

I personally cannot stand polarized glasses in many scenarios, but do happily wear them fishing."

Bruh if you don’t buy some dirt cheap rod with chinesium graphite you won’t break your tips off the cast if you cast within the lure weight rating. UV = wavelength != polarisation. They are two completely different properties.
Your point is correct though. With two sunglasses with no edge/bandstop filters at all and one being the polarised kind the polarised glasses will still block the UV rays with the wrong polarisation whereas the non-polarised will let every polarisation trough.
(right here and now I can't remember whether light reflected off water is generally s- or p-polarised)"

I've been using a sabiki rig in freshwater. Everything is fairly shallow here so I let the weight hit the bottom, like an anchor, and sorta jig the lures around and side to side. Then reel in a bit and repeat. Though, this is more for panfish and bait fish than anything, but sometimes I get a black bass or two."

My idea is to take a barrel swivel (without the clip) and press a split shot on one of the swivel's eyelets. That will be the dropshot weight. You can then just do the same in this video with flies.

It'll Allow me to make a more lightweight rig. Ill post some time in the future how it works out for me."

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==1393187 && dateTime=="11/08/18(Thu)11:16:04" && image=="006_0680a.jpg")

The biggest problem I find is keeping it untangled. Then anything you wrap it around can imprint that shape onto the monofilament and everything gets weird. Though, with my rig the places where the hooks attach have longer sections so they can dance around further away from the main line.

If you have the lead split shots and a barrel swivel, you can just make a wooden form for it and cast a dropshot onto the clip of the barrel swivel. It's like 2-3 mins work if you have a blow torch, old spoon to heat the lead in, and something to make a dent in some wood. Even a butane jet lighter will melt the lead. It is a good use for old split shots that have fallen apart or deformed from too much use; especially if you find them around fishing spots."

Pike arnt that hardy, their slime layer is more important than to say a bass or walleye. People think that because they revive a fish in the water and it swims away that it’s going to be fine and they did no harm to it. Thing is, when you remove that slime layer, the infection they sometimes get as a result doesn’t start immediately so you’d have no clue if you fucked it or not. As for people saying “well how do I unhook it then” gee idk, maybe learn how to properly unhook a fish? Ignorance is no excuse for damaging fish you have no intention of harvesting and makes you look both retarded and like an asshole. If you’re really that uncordinated and can’t manage to remove a treble hook from a pikes mouth then I’d recommend buying some boots and a net so you can let the fish lay in the water inside the net while you unhook it. Jaw spreaders come in handy too when targeting pike for longer periods.

Anyone who defends or practices poor handling of fish they arnt going to eat are on the same level as niggers and should be treated as such. Remember that"

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==1394151 && dateTime=="11/10/18(Sat)11:52:58")

You know how to cast a spinning reel right? You know how when you flip over that wire thing before you let go of your line to make a cast? Flip that wire thing up like you were going to take a cast, that’s the position you want it in when you tie the line to the spool. I usually just do 2 simple overhand knots and have never had an issue. After that flip the bail (wire thing) back down like normal and start reeling in your line. Make sure to keep some tension on the line while you spool it though. Also if your reel has a little switch that allowed the spool to spin either way, make sure it’s fliped to the side that only allows it to spin one direction."

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==1394153 && dateTime=="11/10/18(Sat)11:59:20")

Depends on where you go, but most places (Cabelas, Bass Pro, Dicks, Big 5, Academy) dont charge for anything other than the line unless they're spooling line you bring in or blister pack line."

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==1394175 && dateTime=="11/10/18(Sat)12:53:58")

Was going to say this>>1391311.

Spinning reels are much easier to learn with and harder to fuck up your casts. I fuck up with my baitcaster all the time and I know plenty of more experienced fishermen than me who still fuck up and get shitty bird's nests.

Starting with a baitcaster might put someone off until they've built up a little more patience for the sport.

If you're trying to get someone into fishing I recommend just going to a local lake barge or taking them to a small pond, river, or creek and using live bait such as worms or minnows(I've found canned corn also works very well).

You are almost guaranteed to catch something and have fun, which will make them willing to have a little more patience the next time because they will want to catch those fucking big honkers."

Something that won't get lost in thick Lily pads, I tried using a Whopper Popper fucking thing likely scares the fuck out of the fish when it hits the water and zipping it sounds to loud I'm pretty sure the reason I don't get many hook ups is because these Bass spook easy when the lure or whatever hits the water."

Think SSS simple small and slow. A little spoon (panfish sized), little tiny jigs, small minnows or live grubs twitched on the bottom. If water temps are still in the 40s, ya want to try shallow structure. Once it gets colder than 39 ya gotta go deep (10-18 feet)

you can use them as a head for flys.

I just paid for 900 yds of jb hollow core for a tuna trip. Its cheaper to pay a shop to spool bigger reels... smaller reels are easier to do yourself doe.

they are nice but the handle sucks when you cast. they do work well for light jigging (pe1-2) where casting is not necessary.

You could also consider a pulley rig with a giod size dead/live bait, or if you need extra distance or are fishing in rough weather you could even go for a slide bait if you're keen.
Ann's suggestion of bottom bouncing with something like a paternoster could cover a lot of ground and have good results, you should use a teardrop sinker to try avoid snagging weeds or rocks though.
Tell me about it. Sea fishing here has been garbage for a long while here, but I presume it's because of sand dredging and most of the fish subsequently being driven out to sea by the resulting water quality issues.

>no bromo

brech nah... not for socal jetties. that method sometime work on out going rip tides off a point here. where trolleys and pulleys get used for bonito and pelagic off piers-n-points here. one needs to feel the subtle hali bump/bump. big ones will inhale a bait and just feel heavy on the line but smaller butts will tap then inhale. with passive rigs you miss that bump they feel the hook and spit it out. a limber tip on your rod helps to feel and absorb that bump/bump before you gut hook a short with the trap rig.

Shame pulleys don't work too well where you're from, they do well for me for most bigger fish but I use circle hooks more than octo or suicides.
They're more forgiving of touchy fish if you use a very long pulley, then it acts a bit more like a bolt rig equivalent, hooking them when they run.

There’s no way that’s true with the amount of red crawdad baits. But I believe red is one of the colors that doesn’t travel real far through water, especially when it’s dark. I think the dark blues and purples might be one of those visible ones at depths.

you can make it work, most casts are under 40 feet, im just curious what weight it is. if its a 2 weight you're going to be wishing you had a bigger rod constantly. if it's a 3, 4, or 5 weight you will do fine catching bluegill and small bass, perfect for a beginner. ideally i'd say a 4 for a bluegill rod.
30 pound braid. throw frogs, black/blue jigs, and anything that moves a lot of water.
oh yeah, college fag with a che shirt and a 14 inch channel cat on a lakeside board walk, no?
>read constantly
>spend time practicing casting
>spend time on the water
if your question is much more literal, get a 4, 5. or 6 weight, some foam dry flies, small streamers, and soft hackles. fish for bluegill and bass, worst case scenario it's casting practice. don't worry about catching fish, worry about being in control of your cast and putting your fly where you want it. once your fly is going where you need it to go and doing what you want it to do you just have to figure out what the fish like, and when they like it. take notes, describe the weather, water temprature, location, fly, and presentation. write it all and then read it when you get home. you now have a pattern for what to do (for example) in 55 degree water just after a cold front/rain and dirty water."

Depends on the water clarity though. Clear water will show reds farther than dirty, but yeah. Red is a "subtle" color at depth."
