    • We come here for photos, so post yours as often as possible, even if "image unrelated" to your text.
    • "Flickr/500px/Tumblr/Facebook/Portfolio" threads are for critique and networking.
    • Use "Recent Photos" threads if you are shy or only want to post a couple of photos.
    • Shared raw files which we can collectively edit for discussion of post-processing techniques, are encouraged.
    • Use the Catalog to consolidate similar topics (photographic themes, images or technical gear threads).

    • Go to /wsr/ or /r/ for specific Photoshop requests.

All video related questions and discussion is intended for this thread. Here we discuss techniques, gear and anything else related to capturing video footage. Please don't pretend to be an expert if you don't know what you're talking about. Kindly leave your ego at the door.
Posting short films/scripts or other work you've done is encouraged.
We tend to use and recommend DSLRs/mirrorless cameras because they provide phenomenal picture quality for their price, have large sensors (ie the same size used in high-end cinema cameras and higher) and have interchangeable lenses.
In contrast, consumer camcorders often have much smaller sensors and a fixed lens.

    Quick FAQS
    >what’s the best camera available on a “budget”?
The blackmagic pocket cinema camera 4k
    >what’s a good beginner video camera?
Anything that works, shoots at least 1080p and preferably has interchangeable lenses. Any recommendation beyond that will cause arguments so read the fucking sticky if that isn't satisfactory.
    >What's a good sound solution that won't break the bank?
    Zoom h1
    >Can I use a zoom lens for video?
    Yes
    >Do I need cine lenses?
    No
    >Do I need 4k?
No. It will make your footage look sharper if it’s in focus, and it gives you breathing room in post. But 1080p is still absolutely fine
    >Can someone tell me if my video is any good?
Yes, but be prepared to receive harsh criticism. If you're going to waste 5 minutes of our time with a shitty out-of-focus montage of nothing then we'll tell you that it's crap'

String comment = 'and even though i as a 40 year old millennifart boomer often shit on gen-z i think it is kinda cool. Just imagine them going to whatever social gathering they are assembling in, bringing out all these cool semi-vintage digicams that nobody gave 2 shits about until recently..
The market is absolutely booming right now.. they want it all. The shittiest model you can imagine? Guess what.. they want it and they want to pay more than yesterday.
In certain niche markets these things sell for even above ebay prices which is insane.
Gen-z is unironically making photography fun again?
It is also quite interesting to think about the conditions that made this possible in the first place. So what happened exactly? My viewpoint is the following:
Younger Gen-z social media users have only used cellphones for photography.. they have finally realized that the platform has limitations.. they look at pictures their parents took of them when they were kids using digicams and want that particular look etc, meanwhile the large camera companies have completely neglected this market segment thanks to plebs only using their phones. just look at Canon for instance.. they haven't released a single Ixus model in 7 years and their last hoorah was nothing special in terms of specifications so we have to go back even further to find their high end models. Other companies have done the same.. there is nothing to be seen from the likes of Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Fuji, Samsung or any of the companies that for years made these ultra-compact and cool looking cameras.
It find it all really strange. You have a generation that simply loves this type of stuff and nothing to sell them. Just imagine these cameras with updated hardware, maybe some fresh colors and "limited edition" varieties.
Also feel free to post pics of cool digicams.'

This will probably be the last time i post here, some of these are new, taken with my trusty old Ricoh Gr i got way back in 2015 (which i never ONCE dealt with the *dust* issue), some with my Nikon d750, and a few from my Samsung S10/Google Pixel 7 phones.

A lot of these are going to be old files I've either re-edited, or old RAWs i never got around to touching, and just recently gave them my best shot. I will also add a few photos i think are my absolute best (i will label them as such), feel free to shit on as many of them as hard as you want, ill bite the pillow and take it dry.

Anyways, its been a great 10 years on this god forbidden board, and even though gear faggotry never slowed (in fact, it got worse, thanks Sony) you guys were the ones that taught me everything i know. From taking and giving criticism, to techniques and genuinely great advice, i got it from here (i still miss Bass). Thanks guys, its been fun.

Anyways, feel free to post any old or recent lowlight/night shots you've taken. It doesn't have to be recent either, post night shots from years ago that you're the most proud of, id love to see.

Thankfully they all have some basic lights and microphones so I haven't had to invest money in, but if I can make a solid enough video in future I could make this a decent side gig, but my friend/client is ambitious and wanting to work up to "pornhub quality". Has any other anons ended up shooting amateur porn or photoshooting adult models and what gear should I be getting and how can I make up my production quality enough so I get hired by her friends.

All I have personally is a canon 200d w/18-55mm lens and a tripid alongside a bounce kit, she has a Nikon Z 30 w/tripod and ring lights mostly.

String comment = 'I thought about this. One day, I heard on the radio: "The students of the future will study history in the metaverse." And okay. It's just that then, with AI, they started making fake photos, even with albumin effect, and well made; a few days later on IG, I saw a video of Churchill giving a speech in 1942 against Hitler, denouncing the horror of the concentration camps. It was fake, shot and dubbed through AI. So I thought: what kind of history will the students of the future study in the metaverse? Real, or fake? Very 1984. So I decided to look for real vintage photos, from the mid-1800s to the 1950s, mostly candid shots, mostly private, therefore without surviving negatives. They are images of the real world of the past, without historical or imaginative filters. I scanned them and turned them into NFTs because I believe blockchain technology is the only one - by its nature - that can unite the various metaverses of the future. So these images will survive the continuous and relentless cyclical destruction of paper. I also requested export permission from the Italian State: under Italian law, a country of art, it is illegal to take photos printed more than 25 years old out of the national borders without an export license. So I made NFTs with full intellectual property rights. However, I have the original paper photos from which the scans derive, and upon request, I can send them to the owner of the NFT along with the export license. The recipient of the photograph can decide whether to keep it or destroy it, whether to own a physical or an NFT... but in any case, the image of the real world will survive forever on the blockchain.

Or a an upright materials microscope that uses incident light.
Of course with an apochromatic low magnification objective and a proper mirrorless C-mounted.
I know some people mounted microscope objectives on their cameras, but that's cumbersome.
An inverted microscope would allow to micro-move the stage and fine adjust the DOF.

    Would that work?'

Thus, time to make a thread here!

These were taken in August of 2023, over a span of two weeks.

    Our itinerary was the following:

    - Tokyo
    - Kanazawa
    - Kobe (Himeji, Akashi)
    - Hiroshima (Miyajima, Okayama on the way)
    - Nagoya
    - Tokyo again, two nights and a day.

This was my second trip to the country, and it was just as enchanting as the first,3 years ago, even if it did hurt to "only" stay 2 weeks, after staying nearly 6 months last time.

If you want to share some of your own pictures of Japan or whatever else you find related to what you're seeing here, do feel free!

This first picture is from Kanazawa, needed something colourful for the header, we'll get back to it later.

Why do we not have more threads about shooting stuff like this? There is tons of girls taking low quality stuff with phones and cheap led lights. But there is a huge opening right now for higher quality photos of girls taken with nice cameras and strobes. Girls like and want this type of stuff of them but hardly anyone is doing it.

You could blindfold yourself, throw yourself down a flight of stairs while holding your phone in your hand with instagram open and land on a random thots page their is so many of them. Then you just DM until some reply and want to do it.

You can get a good enough 2 strobe and umbrella setup for about $500 and then you just need a dslr or mirrorless. Its really not that expensive to get into.

And finally, 2 powerful strobes through umbrellas bouncing off the walls and ceiling etc indoors is almost impossible to fuck up.

So /p why are you not doing it?'
