I got a Zhongyi FX-EOS Mk II speedbooster a few years back, it's pretty good, though I don't have a proper Metabones to compare it to. The most noticeable optical effect is a bit of distortion around the center, though it's hardly noticeable. Never regretted buying one.

I recommend getting an EOS one, so you can add different EOS adapters (to OM, M42, F, etc.) and don't have to buy separate speed boosters for those mounts."

My favorite is the 23mm f/1.4, it rarely leaves my camera.
It's bigger, heavier and slower focusing than the 23/2 WR (which I've owned 2 copies of), but I much prefer its character.
The image quality is stellar from 1.4 and I especially love the way it renders the transition into bokeh. Really enjoy using it for (environmental) portraits.
The 23/2 is a good lens but never consistently wowed me in the same way every time I load the images into Lightroom.

It is quite chunky on my current X-E3, but it doesn't feel unbalanced or uncomfortable to me.
Really my only negative point would be the far too loose aperture ring. I currently use a piece of electrical tape to keep it on the settings I want. Hardly ideal.

Another lens I really enjoyed was the excellent Samyang 12/2, pretty much unbeatable for the price. I've now replaced it with the Fuji 10-24/4, decent IQ (good for a zoom) but a bit more convenient.

- The 15-45 PZ has a lot better IQ than its build quality and price would imply. It's also tiny when collapsed and weighs nothing. Seems perfect for travelling light.
- The 35 Fujicron is a pretty great all-round package."

If you're based the UK use eGlobal to order XF lenses. You can get the 27mm f2.8 for about £100 delivered when it's on sale. That's what I did when I started out. The 27mm is sharp as fuck and since it's a pancake lens it pairs well with any X body. You can also get the XC 50-230mm zoom cheap as hell.

It does take a few weeks to arrive though as they're sending it from Hong Kong."

I've got the 35mmf1.4
a friend of mine has the f2
If I stop down to I get very nice sharpness pretty much across the frame.
thats not to say that the f2 is not sharp but it is smaller and has weather sealing.
If the f2 had been out when I got my f1.4 i would have gotten that instead. (price + weather sealing ) would make the deal for me.
So really just consider what you want out of the lens.

Read reviews and check samples. Fuji is one of the lesser used camera makers so you're not going to get that many first hand impressions around here, especially to compare it with Tamron. For Fuji I always do my own research as /p/ doesn't have a lot of info.

If you're considering the 90/2 I'm guessing you're willing to spend some money. Pretty much everyone agrees that it's a outstandingly good lens in pretty much every way (but its size maybe) but you have to figure out for yourself if a fixed 135mm equivalent reaches far enough for your type of motorsport photography etc.
In a similar price range, though a little cheaper, you could also get the 55-200/3.5-4.8, pretty much the premium version of the 50-230 the other anon suggested. Also well regarded, though evidently not as bright or sharp as the 90mm, a prime and one of Fuji's best at that.

If money (and size) is no issue, there's also the 50-140/2.8 to consider."

the whole point of any (glassless) adapter is literally to get exactly the same lens-sensor distance as on the lens' native bodies, AKA flange focal distance. The image circle is therefore identical too.

Haven't used the X-T2, but on the X-T1 I remember being a bit frustrated when using manual lenses because the magnification focus aid implementation is shit (it just magnifies the center pixels instead of actually zooming in on the sensor). That said, if you mainly use focus peaking this probably won't bother you at all.

It's a great camera overall. Didn't notice any meme wax myself, took some of my favorite pictures with it.

My current X-E3 has perfectly usable focus magnification (though still not as artifact free as on the first gen for some reason), I'm guessing it'll be identical on the X-T2 (same sensor)."

No experience with the GFX system, but the X series has some great stuff. I've gone X100>X-T1>X-PRO2>X100F+X-T2. APS-C still can't match 35mm sensors, but has advantages in certain circumstances like macro or sports/birds/tele. Colors are incredible, tone response is great, ergo is pretty good. Plus, they look innocuous and you can get away with bringing them in places you'd get your shit slapped for a "professional" camera.

I have the 70-140, 14mm f/2.8, 16mm f/2.8, 23 f/2, 35mm f/1.4, and their toy/cap lens. I love them all, though the 35mm has some weird quirks like a loud diaphragm. I usually don't fuck with third party lenses. Get yourself a used X-T2 and have fun."

The Samyang 12 is a great travel lens too. I've also messed around with the Samyang 85 1.4 as a 135 equivalent but haven't done any serious shooting with it, I keep bringing it to shoots and never using it because it's pretty slow and clunky to work with (largely because I have to be so far away from the model and MF every shot).

Given what I'm doing, my biggest issue with Fuji is the lack of field lighting options. Nikon's speedlite system is GOAT and it's by far the biggest thing I've missed after switching. I need to pick up a couple of those Godox speedlites or something."

if you don't use 35mm on kit lens then that's not worth getting it since you don't use that focal length. Unless you want to challenge yourself to be a better photog, don't get"

I also own an xt3 and only the kit lens. if you have the money, then why not. But if you're a brokefag like me then I'd say the kit lens at 18mm works fine for wide angles. I think the kit lens is a great all around lens. Next is for you to decide what kind of photos you want to take. For me I want to get the 35mm because in theory, and according to people it takes sharper images than the kit lens. I also like to take photos of people so I need a sub-portrait lens. I like to compose my human with the background rather than just blurring everything but the subject.

The very low sharpness in your images is as much more a function of xtrans and crop sensor than bad kit lens.

If you want that sharp, crisp look, sell your xt2 and get an a7."

Both the X-Pro1 and 35/1.4 are first gen Fuji X, literally the first X-system camera and lens. They're... pretty old and were known even back then for pretty lousy focus speed and accuracy in low light, so I don't know where you got your expectations that it would be any different. In unpredictable low light you'll probably want to use manual focus, easy enough with the focusing aids.

The X-Pro2 has phase detection autofocus (instead of only contrast-based like the X-Pro1) and the newer lenses are designed with significantly faster autofocus (due to better motors and designs with lighter, smaller lens groups to move).
The XP2 + newer 35/2 for example would work massively better in low light. The same 35/1.4 on the XP2 would also be a lot faster, but less so."

Image sharpness is dictated by the lens and sensor size, not pixel density. Hence why some lenses are sharper than others. No lens outresolves any modern sensor.

Take a 20mp crop and 20mp ff, the pixel sites on the ff sensor will be twice as large, which means the lens only has to resolve half as much detail to create an equivalent sharpness image to one taken on crop.

That twice as large pixel site also gathers twice as much light, giving you double the signal to noise ratio on ff than on crop.

>>3508013
Read the above, if you want ok low light, sell your camera and go full frame. A mk1 sony a7 has slightly better af than your xpro1, a MUCH better evf and a much better ecosystem, for about $500. Or get an a7iii and have the best low light performance there is.

>>3508016
There's still no sharp detail in that photo.
Once you use proper gear, i think you'll understand better."

You bought a first gen mirrorless camera from 2011-2012 and expected good autofocus/low light performance? Did you get memed into buying it by a youtube video? Not even the Sonyfags on /p/ would admit Sony had it right in 2011 with the Sony Nex system.

The X-Pro1 is great but you really need to work around its age and limitations. If you're in low light learn to manually focus with the focus peaking."

the 35mm is always a little bit slow, I don't mind it

maybe I'm doing something wrong

the 1.4 is pretty big compared to the 2. you have one of Fuji's smallest cameras and you want to attach one of their bigger lenses? how often do you shoot wide open and for what reasons?

the f2 is lighter and smaller, practically just as sharp and cheaper. the autofocus is faster and quieter. what's there to think about, why consider the 1.4?"
