Looks like your suggestion makes it inviting to use AC Infinity Axial 1238 for the booth since it's rated at 130something to 200something CFM depending on the model. Was planning to use only vallejo and mission paints (mission's clearcoat and or primer) or probably W&N's UV varnishes for the booth.

Durability has nothing to do with solvent resistance. There are two big types of plastic, amorphous and semi-crystalline (or semi-amorphous I guess). Semi-crystalline plastics like PA(nylon), POM, PEEK, PTFE, etc. have higher chemical resistance in general, whereas amorphous like PS and ABS are highly reactive to most common solvents. Pretty sure semi-crystalline is usually less likely to combust too. You might be able to find industrial fans in 120-140mm sizes that feature nylon or perhaps metal fan blades.

Check a site like digikey for industrial fans."

By the way, you want to look at static pressure too. Your fan's ability to push shit out through a duct drops like a rock the moment there's a bend and as it gets longer. That's why when you look at stuff like dryer venting you're supposed to have steel or aluminum rigid vents through the house, maybe flexible is okay as an adapter between your dryer and house venting but only because it's hard to get it right.

Here are a few series you can look at.

I've seen a fair pool of conflicting opinions on a spray booth besides the iron clad "Get a 400+ CFM bilge blower of some kind". Let's see...

Old people at FSM are saying the 100 CFM calculation requirement actually is in reference to the plenum and not the outermost opening size of the booth. Also saw anecdotes that someone's Broan 140 CFM bathroom fan just comes within being adequate, but generally the lower flow rates take longer to evacuate a room or booth of the fumes? I have no idea either how some people are managing just fine with regular bathroom fans or computer fans with their budget setups, dunno what paints they use. ZakuAurelius uses some sort of high powered bathroom fan though...

Either way right now I really can't set up a permanent rigid venting system and have to use flexible ducts, my working surface I'll put the booth on during weekends is the top of a never used dryer machine.

>> 80-90 (CFM) is a joke unless you are spraying straight into it at all times.

Why do you NOT want to spray straight into a spray booth? That sounds really weird, it's like this one guy is spraying just from barely outside the booth but the piece is inside or something.

>Ventech fans

I'm seeing it get lots of bad reviews, like they break down in a couple weeks or within two months of use.

>San Ace brand

This guy goes and says computer fans aren't great because they're rated for inside computer cases (regardless of CFM) but then these suggestions are muffin fans?

Seems like a chunk of possible problems are mitigated mostly by all these people spraying straight into booth, but from how all these things go it feels like a gamble at this rate. Like "Get the strongest CFM fan you can afford and cross your fingers" ?"

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==7220527 && dateTime=="10/27/18(Sat)22:26:34")

>Why do you NOT want to spray straight into a spray booth?
Because you are not spraying into space, you are painting, there is a work piece involved. Not only will it be between your airbrush and the fan, you want the flexibility of being able to move your airbrush around at least a little. If you are thinking where to point your airbrush all the time instead of how to paint your piece the best possible way, you are not going to get very far."

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==7220533 && dateTime=="10/27/18(Sat)22:31:35")

>suggestions are muffin fans
??? I suggested industrial fans because they're often used in locations with machinery and debris, and sometimes chemicals. Some of the ones I suggested have sealed motors. The other guy who told you that computer fans aren't great is somewhat right because most of them are made of something like ABS which will be affected by lacquer thinner fumes, and they usually have low pressure.

As far as what other people are saying, I have no idea. All I can say is that when you have ducting you don't want to just look at high CFM, which some PC fans may have, but also lack pressure. But you can somewhat alleviate the pressure drop off by putting fans inline or at the end.

>flexible ducts
Just try to keep it straight and it's probably fine, that said rigid metal ducting is also safer against fires and shit afaik.

>Why do you NOT want to spray straight into a spray booth?
You should, but keep in mind that when you spray against a filter it won't be 100% absorbed. There will be blow back and a good fan helps keep that shit in the booth.

>Seems like a chunk of possible problems are mitigated mostly by all these people spraying straight into booth, but from how all these things go it feels like a gamble at this rate.
Sealed motor bilge blowers are a good, safe option but the trade off is noise. I tried it and it was like using a vacuum. That said, a 4" 250cfm bilge blower is the end all of a small to medium sized booth probably. You can really feel the concentrated stream of air coming out, and ignition proof blowers are usually made of solvent safe materials with a (partially) sealed motor. Keep in mind, not bilge blowers are necessarily ignition proof so you have to look for it specifically. Otherwise an industrial fan is also a good, perhaps quieter option but with less pressure, but they're more expensive"

if(Anonymous && title=="" && postNumber==7220540 && dateTime=="10/27/18(Sat)22:40:14")

spray straight into a spray booth fan*
Because if your fan is some weakass pos, any fumes not directly sprayed into it is gonna linger around the areas with weaker suction(ie not directly in front of the fan) and diffuse. CFM is a shit metric to look at, because high CFM doesn't necessarily means its good for a spray booth. The output pressure is also another factor, try putting a filter in front of a computer fan and watch the cfm drop to zero since the motor probably has next to no torque."

>Aluminum tube ones regardless of brand have a high fail rate.
Mine has been running fine for a year now and will probably run for a couple more before I change it. These fans are duct fans, they are designed to run 24/7 and you are not going to do that in a booth. Failure after 1 month in a duct = failure after 2 years in a booth if you use it for an hour every day (more likely for a couple hours a week on average)."

Even the key art is by and large simpler than the kits/OVA designs. It's mostly visible in the overabundance of panel lines on the Zeon HGs compared to the art; there's a lot more panel lines on the skirt/legs of the kits compared to the art. The arms /upper torsos of the kits also tend to be more complicated than in the art. The Bugu and Mobile Worker took on quite a few proportion changes going from their manga designs to the OVA designs.

The early Guncannon and early Guntank kits/OVA designs are pretty close to the manga art, though."

so yes theres alot of panel lining which he chose to do cause in a interview he said he wanted to make them look more like machines.

I don't even know what you're trying to argue any more. The point from my first post on has been that the Origin kits are NOT accurate to the manga, but instead are based off of and accurate to the OVAs. This is evident in the detail and proportion changes that can be found between the kits and the manga art. Nowhere in Origin -- not in the standard pages, volume covers, Yas's lovely watercolors, or any form of key art -- do the mobile suits contain as much detail (i.e., panel lines) as they do in the OVAs and the kits; furthermore, the kits themselves do not have the same proportions as in the manga, as evidenced by the Zaku's "crotch" piece between the legs/skirt flaps jutting out more in the manga art than it does in the OVAs/kits, and the Bugu's knees being completely different between the two versions.

Lastly, Yas wasn't responsible for the mechanical designs in the original MSG series, nor was he responsible for the Origin OVA designs. While he handled the character designs in MSG, Okawara is the man responsible for MSG's mobile suits, and mobile suits in many other properties. Furthermore, Katoki is actually responsible for the Origin OVA designs (and thus the kits), being credited throughout the OVA series as interpreting Yas's manga designs into animation. Even if Yas HAD also been responsible for the OVA designs, the very fact that the designs were changed between the manga and the OVAs would mean (like in my original point), the kits were NOT accurate to the manga, but to the OVAs instead.

I love the Origin kits myself, and I adore Yas's artwork, but to say that the kits are accurate to the manga is incorrect. Apologies for sounding like a broken clock, but the kits are accurate to the OVAs, not to the manga itself, as I have been saying from my first post on. But that's enough of this out of me, this discussion is really more /m/ than /toy/."

I'm really not tryna get embroiled in this argument, I really only have one thing to note:
>quite a few proportion changes
As someone who learned measured, meticulous technical drawing in school, these paintings are rather bad. Don't get me wrong, I love them personally and think they look amazing on an artistic level, but if we're talking proportions? This is a nightmare. There is so, so much incorrect perspective here, things are warping and deforming before my very eyes. Thing don't recede into the distance properly and the angles are all wrong. Heck, even on a mechanical level we can see in some places that he hasn't thought about how actual joints would work (or just skipped painting them). It's madness to try to compare the proportions in these to something precise like a 3D model or kit."

I was told there was more pigment, but I believe this is the first time I've heard the 2X figure. There are some things you just want to try for yourself, too. This almost makes me want to play with the thinner and paint ratios to see if I can get close to the same color now."

Not really. GX is not really thicker than normal MrColor (except for SuperClearIII). You can thin GX 1:1 or 2:1, 1:1 will just have much better coverage.
Higher pigment content comes into play when you mix multiple colors (you will need much less GX to achieve the same result). Personally I would not recommend mixing GX with regular MrColor."

No, that's pretty average, especially for an older High Grade. Kits are generally cheaper than comparable figures because you do the assembly yourself."

Some people use kits for displays and dioramas instead of playing with and reposing them often. In fact thats the majority of modelers outside of the big stompy robot audience. Sometimes there are people who build both kinds of kits and prefer to make their cool power armor soldiers and mechs in a fixed pose display."

white and orange paint aren't going to look good on bare blue plastic. desu you should get some spray primer and masking tape as well. tape off the areas, prime them, then use those markers. Hell, get white primer and you may not even need a white marker."

With a different color base plastic, markers can be enough if done right. White, yellow, red and orange paint usually don't have good coverage, especially over dark colors, so getting a good look will require priming."
