>Watching TikToks from countries like Ukraine, Russia

You know a lot of the Russian youth on tik tok are from super rich families...

>Brand clothes cost the same as here

Where is "here"

And not true, clothing brands are priced differently across nations. Like everything. A brand will make something in India for a dollar, sell it to a poor nation for 20 dollars, sell it to America for 100.

(This also happens with with vaccine pricing, just so you know)'

Zara and even H&M are considered relatively nice clothes in some countries (e.g. latin america). Not only are the wages much lower, but often the clothes are MORE expensive than in e.g. USA (for legit brand-name stuff).

You usually get a mix of knockoffs from China (you'll see loads of people with clothes with Gucci, Balenciaga, Ralph Lauren, etc logos/names on it). You also get some locally produced cheap shit as well.

>>18082343

You'll find a lot more clothes being bought in outdoor markets or smaller owner-operated tiny stores, not so much in actual brand stores in actual malls.

You can safely assume most foreign brands will be knockoffs if you see them on someone 90% of the time unless you're in a rich neighborhood.

No idea what it's like in eastern europe though but i assume it's not much different. Markets full of chinese/etc knockoffs.'

Russia and LatAm have their own clothing production (sometimes they're even owned by the same American and European countries) but their cost is just a fraction of big brands.

This is due to:
>these countries usually own or produce the prime materials (cotton and other fabrics) themselves
>labor is cheaper
>they don't waste as much money on marketing, distribution or renting gigantic shops
>they cut off a bit from their profit margins
>worse quality control
I used to sell Levi's jeans made in Colombia. They were the exact same model as the ones produced in America and the materials were high quality too, but their color was not as uniform, sometimes they would have errors in the cut or finish, but they cost half of American -made ones.

Lately clothing quality in American and European brands has gone down the shitter too so the difference is not as big as it once was either.'

none of those people design their own clothes they all go to these shops in china that have basically a boutique full of pre-made designs. they pick stuff off the rack that some chink designed or knocked off from a real designer, maybe make a few tweaks or edits (only the bigger pages have enough MOQ to) and the chinks make the garment for them with customized branding/tags/logos/etc.
you can get the same clothes much cheaper without the branding on taobao.
there's a whole ton of "start a fashion brand with $100" videos on youtube and tiktok detailing in depth sometimes with videos of the whole process i'm talking about. most of the people running these brands aren't even into fashion they're crypto bro get rich quick types.'

i agree with u that h&m and zara are considered nice clothes, since im from the balkans and an average person cant afford expensive brands like the ones u mentioned. however zara and h&m are kinda what people in my country usually wear (i suppose the incomes of average ppl from the balkans r lower from russians idk didnt check, but thats what i was focusing on.) the cheapest option is to thrift so u may come across fast fashion brands (if ur lucky enough to find your size) but thats it. i guess some people get knock offs but they're probably the same quality and price as fast fashion brands. but yeah idk about latin america i was comparing russia to my country'

I was talking more about latin america with them being fancy clothes that average people would be excited about buying and would constitute like <10% of their wardrobe. Usually you get shit like $4-7 shoes (not even exaggerating) which baffles my mind. I've been to the balkans too and I noticed fewer street markets for knockoff clothes. there was definitely a wide variance in the balkans though like romania vs north macedonia etc. which country are you in? croatian and romanian incomes are higher than russians and bulgarians are around the same but the rest of the balkans are lower. substantially so for moldova/albania/north macedonia. Bosnia a bit too.'

lol you clearly have never been to a post-communist country
they have shopping malls everywhere and have their own domestic (or international euro) clothing chains you'll find in every single one. fashion "boutiques" are marketed towards older people, either wealthier with very conservative tastes or poorer with shit you would have expected to stop seeing people wearing 15 years ago.
I can't speak for Russia itself but this is the case with Eastern European countries.'

Clothes made by first world country brands are expensive regardless. Even the cheapest Levis and Wrangler are 3-4 times more expensive than your average "high end" models of local brands in 3rd world countries, because more than half of the price is for the brand name and to reach first world levels of profits as much as possible. Even brands like zara and uniqlo are more like luxury brands in 3rd world because of the price difference.'

Because it's fucking gay and pathetic to wear some other man's clothes that you don't even know? The only hand me downs you should be wearing are from you parents, siblings, relatives and at the most friends.
