you will always find aye- and nay-sayers: all you can do is try to see what the book/resource allegedly has to offer and earnestly go through it yourself. everything else is heresay.'

it works if you actually know how to draw on a technical level, which is the context most people are missing with this book. the people attending nicolaides' classes were accomplished academic artists who were concurrently studying with teachers like george bridgman at the same academy. it's not actually a beginner book.'

Not at all. You should however consider if what you need is a full course on figure drawing or to start actually making the things you wanna do.'

Not op, but I see people putting anatomy for sculptors on a fucking pedestal and I still don't know why they do that. Is the book that good? How people actually study from it? Copying the whole thing seems a no go...'

You consult it to help decipher wtf is going on when drawing long poses or as a supplement for references to clear up your understanding of muscles and major forms.
Anatomy books like that are made for consulting as you draw, they're probably the kind that's most useful as an actual physical book since they're easier to flip through in that form.'

Oh, that makes sense. As far as I've seen, the book has a lot of photos and little text, kinda straightforward. I'm a dirty beg anyways, still don't know shit about anatomy but I'll give that book a shot in the future. OP book seems worth trying too'

I'm not sure what you mean. my point is unavoidable: you cannot have knowledge of the efficacy of instructional content without *properly* going through it yourself. with everything you find talked about on here, there are people who say positive things about it and those who say negative things; those who say positive things but say something(s) else are better. you can even have people who've gone through some book or course and are quite good but don't understand how much their success is due to said book or course: in no case is hearsay an actual way to understand a resource's quality.'
