Nikke is very blatant about it's inspirations, usually they're super direct about them. One of the characters makes a couple pretty overt Gurren Lagann references, though when she called it a classic I died a little inside. Makes up for it though with her special attack animation being an SRW homage. There's a lot of Megaman in there too, with Mavericks being a blanket term to describe those malfunctioning or rebelling ala MMZ. There's even a story in game where they retell how Model ZX tried to bridge humans and their mechanical copies, only to be branded a Maverick and hunted down. Not /m/, sure, but it's pretty solidly inspired by a lot of stuff talked about on this board. I got a kick out of picrel too';

Where it's tied with a unit that part of its schtick is going really fast and the pilot named it Trombe after his pet horse. Meanwhile in Nikke, Trombe is the blonde lady's robot horse that she rides into battle, capable of clearing vast distances in no time. It IS a perfect fit because it's a direct reference, one that you just weren't familiar with because you didn't play SRW. It would be an even heavier reference if the robot horse used black as it's main color, but I guess they changed it to white to better fit the girl's primarily white color scheme (SRW Trombe is known for its black and red combo, which is still kinda here but heavily downplayed)';
