Well what happens is they dodge the ACT Missile for long enough that I can fire a second, and then they just start panicking, boosting around trying to dodge the missiles and being too out of energy to avoid the bazookas, which two javelins is enough to stagger them and hit them with the pulse sword. 'Listening to the Disc 3 tracks made me want to believe in Hoshino, Miyazawa and Onodera's work for this game, man. They weren't 'held back' by anyone other than themselves. Bamco likes to meddle a lot, but I don't think they care ENOUGH to change up the music. 6 didn't have to have the OST it does, but it was a deliberate choice to employ synth music, for one reason or the other.

This game's dialogue isn't too different from LR or the past two gems. In LR, it was a race to see who gets to the damage thresholds first, and based if you're on the backfoot or not, the enemy pilot will either taunt or cope and mald at you. I don't remember this condition happening all the time in 4th or 5th Gen, but everyone in 6th likes to talk. A lot more. From's approach to subtle worldbuilding is still apparent, like how the Shao-Wei only exists because Balam gave a strong-armed suggestion to their beloved corporate affiliate.

That sort of subtlety isn't lost on the music, either. I like to believe there's always something more than surface-level observations. The curtains ARE blue for a reason, damn it.

All this to say my next three playthroughs will have the dialogue absolutely muted in favor of just sound effects and max music volume. I could set the music to 0 and keep listening to everything that came before it on WinAmp all day, but the same people that made Macro during one of the most intense moments of Last Raven made the same music we hear when we shitstomp Iguazu or Nightfall for the nth time. There's something here, man. I want to like the music. I already have like 400 hours in the game and all I can recall are the same tracks everyone else does. No. That's not right. This is still Armored Core music... at its core.'

It depends on your playstyle to an extent; a heavy build has much more reason to soak attacks while a light build gets more out of being able to take a glancing hit and keep moving via stability for example. But as a general rule of thumb, up to a point stability > AP > defences.

Being able to eat a shot and shoot someone anyway can spell the knife-edge between victory and defeat. After that, statchecks are a real part of the game especially if the other guy uses ping damage of some kind. It doesn't matter as much if your energy defences are maxed if your AP is half your opponent's for example. Or if he uses a gun. Or a melee weapon. And/or a Coral weapon. Besides, if you have a shield or Pulse Armour you can partially compensate for it.

That said. Ultimately you do want balance because a high stability tank with shit defences will get shredded much quicker than a slightly less high stability tank with solid ones. Furthermore at high skill play, Generator Output and Supply as well as Booster Efficiency are king because being able to get the fuck out of dodge and keep moving are always. ALWAYS better than eating the hit even if you have a shield. Even shields aren't 100% fullproof to stagger.'

A 20% increase to total AP is literally just making you 20% harder to kill, while a 20% increase in defense goes into some arcane calculation and tends to come out more like 5 or 8% harder to kill. A lot of defense can end up making a lot of difference, but in general you're getting more survivability per weight by stacking AP, and trading off for a part with more def but less AP is almost never worth it for the survivability alone and most parts with lots of one have lots of the other.
