I know the basic rules, but what's the flow of a game like this supposed to be? As DM, should I plan major plot advancements, or should I just let the party do whatever the hell the want from a basic starting point and roll with the punches? Any help you guys have is really appreciated. I've DM'd for DND 5e a few times, but that's pretty much it.';

Start here. PbtA has a very different mindset from 5e and trying to run it like 5e will make it suck.'

I don't think PbtA games sucking has anything to do with 5e'

D&D brain does not work for PbtA. PbtA games can suck (most do), but played right are actually kind of neat. Treating moves like they are skill checks from 3.x and later is the worst offender, but it's also the retarded play culture common in 5e that simply isn't compatible with other gamestyles.'

Consider actually reading the book. The whole book. There's a whole second that usually takes up the last 1/3rd to 1/4th of just advice and structures for planning, plotting, and running the game.'

The same way normies approach DnDogshit 5e, ignore 99% of the rules and just do improv theater, except PbtA games are already alot closer to that than DnD.'

The first thing you need to understand is PbtA are narrative systems, not games.
The second thing you need to understand is your approach to PbtA makes no difference, since it's a narrative system. You can run it like you run D&D 5e, because that's also a narrative system. The suggestions in D&D 5e are different and more technical than in PbtA, but they're still just suggestions.'

Why would anyone treat moves like skill checks? For half of them you don’t even roll any dice.'

1. Dude needs a pocket protector
2. Can't have a 90s Hugh Grant hairstyle with a fivehead.'
