The only thing I significantly houserule is alchemists.

Their weapon proficiency progresses at the same rate as most martials, expert at 5, ect., and I give them all quick bomber as a free feat at level 1. It seems to iron out a lot of the kinks and let any subclass contribute to damage and debuffing.'

From my experience alchemists don't struggle to hit, they struggle to have versatility.
I figured the weak link was perpetual infusions, so I shifted it to level five, made it half level rounded up of selections made each time they prepare, and made the level of perpetual infusions character level -4.
So when they get it they choose three level 1 items based on research field each time they prepare.
When they hit 7 they choose four level 3 and lower items based on research field each time they prepare.
And from that point onward an alchemist can probably keep all their infused reagents free to use with quick alchemy rather than sinking them all into things they need to play the character.
So quick alchemy suddenly turns on as something you can do all day rather than being something you wish you could do but can't.

I've yet to playtest it but I might just shoehorn in a gmpc to a game and see what happens.'

Had a houserule when I ran Malevolence where players could spend 10 minutes to make a check using the traditions skill check (ex. Nature=Primal spell) using the DC of the spell rank. If they succeeded they would regain the spell slot back. Trained could only try for spell ranks 1-3, expert for spell ranks 4-6, master for 7-9 and legendary for 10th rank spells. After doing it you couldn't try again for 1 hour, whether you succeeded or failed. On a critical you got 2 spells of that level or lower back. Success you got the 1 spell back. Failure nothing happened. Critical failure you increased your stupefied level by 1 for the hour.

Besides that I like the idea of making the crit success on tripping deal damage equal to the damage of your unarmed strike/natural weapon or maybe the tripper gets a free attack using the same MAP as the trip. An extra 1d6 feels terrible at anything higher than level 4.'

I just want the damn thing to come out so I can see what mechanics it does have, talking about what isn't in the game is boring as fuck. We've been doing that since it launched, show me what is actually being added, give me cool abilities or a reason to go homebrew something.

I really liked the big-picture flavor of exemplar but the mechanics in the playtest turned me completely off of it. The idea of being a mythical hero with chuunibyou weebshit feats is great, and then they lock you into this MOBAesque playstyle where you have to have exactly one weapon, one worn item, and one body feature and bounce the source of your powers between them like some kind of juggler.
It's cool, for example, that they have an Achilles-style unbreakable skin option, but you'll have it active at best every other round because it's competing with your martial damage buff. None of the body/worn ikon options actually compete with a simple +2 per die (and a super to buff it beyond that) so they're second fiddle off-turn buffs while you try to make sure every Strike is made with the weapon ikon active.
I can't blame them for not wanting every class to play the exact same, but I do think they've gotten stuck on introducing new mechanical gimmicks/turn rotations for every class when early martials like barbarian, monk, fighter, champion, and rogue are much less restricted. At this point if I want the godling flavor of the exemplar I'd rather take fighter with thematic free archetypes and reflavor.'

Anyway, Outflank actually only gives +2 because you already get +2 while flanking(aka when two characters are attacking the same enemy in melee). You also need to have it with both flanking melee characters for it to work.

Blind Fight becomes kinda useless after your casters get True Seeing spell.

Weapon Focus is recommended for martials, and for full BaB melee ones Power Attack.

For casters just grab Spell Focus and Spell Penetration. Heighten Spell metamagic for the party Dispel Magic spammer.'

Fair, but I think those are thematically different situations from what Diehard is supposed to do.

On one hand we have
>"guy who is at death's door gets knocked out by a friend"
where the point is that they really were just a single blow away from going down but had no regard for their own life.

And on the other hand we have
>"guy who should by all means be down but simply doesn't fall"
where the point is that they won't ever stop unless they're killed.

Have you seen The Princess Bride? (you should). The scene where Inigo Montoya confronts his father's killer is exactly what Diehard is about.'

I don't see why not. Obviously you can only use one at the time though, and having even one attached "renders them temporarily useless as ranged weapons".

No. Only benefit would be if you make bayonets from different materials and/or enchantments swapping between them would probably be a free action.
>Do bayoneted guns use Dex or Strength to attack?
It is two-handed weapon so STR unless you have something like Fighter's Finesse.
>Does a musket with a bayonet deal 1.5x damage if held two-handed?
1.5x though it can't be used one handed anyway
>Is there any way to not put them in the barrel and undersling them, or at least attach them faster?
I think there was some sort of magic item for that, though I can't remember what it was. Might have been specific weapon or some shit. But as it stands no without GM specifically allowing it with something else like quick draw, or maybe some third party feat or whatever.'

If you want a weapon that alternates between melee/ranged and uses Dex for both, then instead of the bayonet you are limited to the Dagger/Sword Cane Pistol (none of which allows for 1.5x dmg). However, if you dip a level into Swashbuckler and take Weapon Versatility (Axe/Warhammer Musket) you get a finessable weapon that deals 1.5x STR/Power Attack. And regen Grit with both ranged/melee attacks.
No double barreled shenanigans though.'

Crafting is unfortunately still extremely lackluster, even with the new craft feats. It's not really a way to save money unless you have an extreme amount of downtime, which is fine, however, it doesn't really do anything for you otherwise, either. Technically there's the possibility of being able to craft your own stuff while in a dungeon or otherwise unable to make purchases, but that use is so niche, and so readily replaced by a spellcaster who can just teleport back to town, that it hardly seems worth investing several skill increases and feats into. I really struggle to find a use-case for Craft outside of classes like Alchemist or Inventor who use it as part of their core class abilities. For everybody else it seems like a pure flavor pick with very little actual utility.'

From a meta perspective it seems even worse as it adds an extra trap for DMs. This is just a theory, but I could really see a DM adding in formulas for items if there is a crafter in the party in place of just the normal item thinking it would make the crafter feel useful and be a fun thing (which it is) but now the crafter has to pay (full price) and take time to make the loot they'd have normally just gotten.
Also on a second point having a level 2 feat along with several skills only for them to become relevant at level 17+ is fucking horrible. You'd be much better hiring an NPC to make the formula (as you can make higher level items than your current level it's only restricted based on access to the formula)'

They publish classes, spells, feats and stuff here. No need to log in or pay. Should be possible to scrape together enough material for playtesting, though considering how shitty patreon layout is, it is going to be a pain in the ass (honestly I have been hoping that someone has enough autism to look it through and put up a wiki or someshit).

Might also be some stuff in their Discord but I have sworn to never use that piece of shit program.'

I normally lurk these threads to see any 1e tidbits or stories. Totally missed the TQ.

Of course my TQ is my masterpiece. Giant Ravnica Homebrew.
100 pages of Archetypes, lore, locations and rules, and not a fedora in sight.

Please feel free to comment, question, or give feed back on it.
I'll get some FAQ's out of the way.
1) Are you going to do another Magic Setting? (Usually Theros or Kamigawa)
No, those are just Greece and Japan. there are better setting books for those then what I could make.
2) Are you going to add equipment?
To the person who asked, I looked into it and Ravnica has like no memorable equipment and basically none at all. Its like sunforger, so No to maybe
3) is it done?
I said it would be but then I realized I had to finish up cavalier classes, domains and worst of all i thought up 11 more classes. So no.
4) are you going to do this for 2e?
No, I don't play 2e and the maths tighter so I don't want to fuck it up.
5) Can I share this?
yeah of course, just don't claim you made it, not that I can stop you.'

I agree, people forget this is a game and you got to make something people want to play or is cool.

That was my whole design philosophy when making this
>>92620360

I admit I don't play 2e, but with a 3 action system there are a billion ways to make something interesting.
right off the top of the dome piece, I am thinking the Samurai gets a bunch of actions that get more powerful the more actions you put in to them. the ones I can think of right away are.

1) Drawing your weapon and attacking, like the 1e samurai had
2) Parry & counter attack
3) The classic single slice
4) Will save, and inspiration boost for allies
5) Fort Save and healing
6) Arrow Barrage
7) Other more mystical weeb shit.'

Might just be me, but a lot of these features seem like they'd be more at home on a Ranger than Fighter, which is part of what's bugged me about this whole conversation. I don't think Samurai should be a full class and it probably makes more sense as an archetype, but the people arguing you can totally just make one now aren't even arguing the best class for one in the current iteration of the game so their argument comes off in bad faith.

Similarly I think Ninja is probably more Laughing Shadow or even Dex monk than Rogue.'

I've noticed this from running games in 1e, no idea if they continued it into 2e, but Paizo has a bit of a bad habit of including "loot" that's accounted as being part of what the party is expected to have when in my opinion unless they're a bunch of skeevy murderhobos there's no way they'd actually take that stuff. Real "scrape this gold off the walls" levels of petty loot acquisitions, and that's not even accounting for the hidden loot that the players may not even know they're supposed to be looking for.'

Paizo discovered that playoids "read" the books so they can fine-tune the PC they've been fondling in their imagination, basically mental masturbation where the only way to cure the blue balls is to force their Forever GM into running yet another game that devolves into their "cool" PC doing another "cool" thing. Because that's what Pathfinder and DnD have devolved into; superhero power fantasies where everyone's a Chosen One with some neat reddit-tier gimmick they can tweet about and get epic upboats. What's that, GM? You wanted to run something more serious? Shut up and prepare our next encounter!

Sweeping aside all the racial detritus, the Samurai is the Knight of the East, and every-fucking-one wants to play a Knight in Avistan. This shouldn't be a race-thing at all, Samurai are cool because they're armored gentry with sleek curved swords and almost a thousand years of romanticism attached to them. This isn't even a, "haha, yellow man go whoosh." It's that Samurai are fucking cool, they're *cool* because they're Knights.

This is funny as fuck to me as well, because a Precision ranger with a katana was one of the first things I drafted when looking at pf2e. That said, quickdraw is a kind of shit feat, especially now that swap is a universal action. Quickdraw either should be a free action, or just give you access to more action types.

For that matter, I don't even think samurai or ninja would be good full classes, and t those specific names don't need to even be archetypes. But I do think the existing options for pop culture repping them just suck complete ass and no effort is made to offer actual answer to that.
"Rogue/Ranger/Investigator with psychic dedication" could be a pop culture Ninja I guess, but that's lame as fuck and ignores every other thing you might want to do (like throw any weapons and not have it be dogshit).

Pop culture samurai really just needs a version of duelist or aldori duelist that doesn't put you to fucking sleep with how boring it is. No actually good action compression, barely any style, nothing that's over the top. They're just fucking boring.'

The main difference between a L20 character and a demigod is you start to get mildly precognitive -- the obvious build for this is the ability to reroll your checks (reroll once, choose highest result).

Would a L20 character with the ability to reroll everything be strong enough to take a regular L20 party, or would the party still overwhelm them with action economy? I'm not really used to running high level campaigns.

But that is just a baseline, the real armor comes from the Dexterity and getting as high as possible max dex on your heavy armor (basically Mithril Full Plate).
Also buckler shenanigans though those tend to be controversial.

As for the videogame, just keep an eye on max dex cap in your armors and make sure you have enough dex to fill it. Having Dodge feat helps if you can affort to take it.'

The AC values are a bit skewed though since they're based on enemy's lowest BAB attack rather than their best. But try to reach the green value at the minimum. And try to get miss chance pronto. After that, it's about being strategic and denying enemies their full-attacks.

Friend's girlfriend joined our group and she did not like like that it felt completely mandatory to hit 18 in your important stat or you were trolling. And, honestly, she had a point - if there's never a reason to not be 18 STR Fighter, why bother letting me be anything else?

Those can be a little deceptive because a lot of classes do just give a free first level feat for picking a subclass. And the ones that don't tend to give you what a feat from another class would give you for free.

I guess my example for this would be a cloistered cleric getting the domain initate feat for being a cloistered cleric, but I'm pretty sure that druids and bards get the same treatment. The cleric feat is just a first level focus spell and focus point. A sorcerer gets no first level feat but they do get a first level focus spell and point just as a class feature for existing.

But the point is moot because I play sorcerers every chance I get in this system and I always go human (Half-elf) so I can take reach spell with natural ambition at level 1 and then dangerous sorcery at level 2.'

Then after they attempt to help or question this person to no avail, said person bites their own arm in half, and it spawns a weak crawling hand.
Person then gets attacked by their own hand and dies.

It's a pretty trivial encounter but they wouldn't have weapons drawn or anything, and it messes with their assumptions about what's happening.
It also baits them into expending resources to keep the guy alive and to recall knowledge on extraneous topics to obtain bad information.

ive seen decent argument that your squad size will be super limited and expand over time so its a prioritisation matter of "when do i add x-type character" and with that in mind it might not even be that taxed on level requirements'

Okay neat I hadn't read that. Just read it there and while there are some restrictions and it doesn't seem worth doing unless you are making a similar item but in the case you are it's well worth it if your DM lets you

Critical Success If you are deconstructing the item to
make a new, similar item, you can apply 80% of the cost
of the deconstructed item to the new item. If you are
deconstructing the item for raw materials alone, you can
apply 55% of the cost of the deconstructed item to a single
new item. In either case, if this is in excess of the new item’s
cost, the remainder is lost.

Success As critical success, but you can only apply 75% of the
deconstructed item’s cost to the new similar item and 50%
of the deconstructed item’s cost to any single item.'

I will once again remind everyone that TTRPGs are no longer about roleplaying fantasy elves or dwarves anymore and instead its about narcissists injecting themselves into a fantasy setting and making it more like their horrible real world lives. Writing your setting as being direct rips of every culture on earth instead of a general pastiche of common tropes was a mistake because narcissists will now fight over who has the most page focus. This is what that entire subreddit meltdown was truly about, a SEA-Yank and his white lib Yank allies shitting the bed because people think Japan is cooler than Indonesia and its abject poverty.'

Talk with your player, anon. I know this is hard but I believe in you. Snark aside, sounds like the guy watched Dungeon Meshi and wants to be the parties Senshi. Whether this is the case or not, you should not be wondering what to do with a lore that a player picks themselves. Work it out with them. I give it a high chance though he wants to be able to know what monster meat is edible or not.'
