Was wait for OP to pipe in, but less renders would be one good reason, the other is that Twine is a bit more flexible in terms of what you can do for game mechanics. Timing / flinch minigames should be easier to implement in Twine, since you have ability to move to JS as things get more complex. DoL was written in Twine, no idea how you'd make that work in RenPy.
I've worked a lot in Twine and only a bit in RenPy tho. Maybe latter's more flexible that I give it credit for. Seems like use case tho was simplicity.
