Yeah it's one of those series where I knew that it would enter my permanent top 10 list. Would say that this and Dorohedoro are the two best manga I have finished the last ten years. It's of course a matter of preferences and I have read a bunch of other fantastic series but there is a difference between a series that is great and a great series I start to obsess over and collect fanart of (or draw some myself) aka stuff I become an actual fan of, which is rare.

We are lucky, it's one of the very few series where the male characters get merch. And in this case it's a lot. Buying the figures alone is already almost forcing you to get an extra job if you want them all, it's fun.
Bless Noda for sticking to the pandering. No shounen endings with sudden no name girlfriends, no "no homo" confirmation at the end, rather the opposite, as some characters like Usami, Koito and such got super gay endings. The success of this (and current series like Bravern) will hopefully once and for all show that gay pandering and gay characters aren't risky at all, you just have to do it right and have fun with it.
Nothing is worse than the corporate, healthy, educative gay content many western productions have or the insecure gay pandering of many anime that want the gay and fujo audience but are too afraid of delivering because gays are scary.';

Yeah. As quirky and crazy as the guys are they are strangely relatable with their flaws. At least more than the generic highschool MC. I guess it's a series that just works for a broader audience. From my experience I don't know any people that drop such series because of the gay jokes, not even the dudes that are usually complaining about gayness.';

This is the problem with such series. The outstanding ones are very original and specific and just happen to push all the right buttons for you otherwise they wouldn't be outstanding. So get 10 similar series and they won't work like this because they aren't about this exact mix of genres, characters and preferences. I have the same issue with what I would call my other top 5 shows that I accumulated throughout my life. The only person that could ever make something like that again would be the exact same writer or team that made the ones I like. But they either stopped making things or work on different genres now.';

I feel like it will take another decade till I find another anime or manga I like as much. Granted it's hard for anime since originals are usually one cours and not enough to get me attached for long and they lack the development and proper plot progression that longer series have. Not to mention that the majority turns to shit halfway in. But even with manga it's hard to find anything truly good.

You get some psychopaths or killers every now and then, but they are always either comical or too extreme to feel realistic, Ogata is the exact type of dude I expected to start a shooting or something when he started to appear more often in the manga. I mean I guess he's a sniper so he targets few people, but I wasn't really wrong either.';
