Do not read anything into pressure levels. 1024 is more than enough.
If you have any additional questions, ask them.
Remember to ignore all chinese shills.

Recommended tablets:

>Screenless:
Intuos 3, 4, 5, Pro, One by Wacom

>Display:
Small (10-11"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
Medium (12-16"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S8/S9 Ultra, used iPad Pro 12.9"
Large (22"+): Cintiq 22HD, Cintiq Pro 27 - Make sure they have VESA standard mounting holes.

>Avoid:
>XP-Pen, Huion, Gaomon and every other Chinese brand making Wacom imitations
Poor build quality, pens with wavy lines, wobbly nibs, broken tilt, issues registering light pressure, terrible customer support, uncalibrated. All Chinese brands have the same problems. Check out the webm to understand how bad they are.
Do not be fooled by myths like "Chink companies are just as good as Wacom now" - they've been saying this for over 8 years, nothing has changed. Consider reading the amazon reviews, particularly the negative spectrum and you will find some very common themes.
Chinese companies have also been proven to shill on 4chan. You will see dozens upon dozens of posts in this thread by a chinese schizo shill, who will either be bitching about the OP, gaslighting as a Wacom fan, making pointless spam posts or giving terrible advice (like recommending Huion). Just ignore and report him.

>Microsoft Surface Pro
More optimized for palm rejection than good quality drawing. Wobbly lines when drawing slow and straight.

>Cintiq 13-16"
Completely outclassed by the Galaxy Tab Ultra & iPad

>Cintiq Pro 16, 24, 32
Overpriced, QC issues, loud fans, proprietary mount interface

>Lenovo
Worse than Samsung in every way.

14.6" is reserved for Ultras so the "cheapest" one would be the S8 Ultra
The next biggest and cheapest after that would be a 12.4" S7 FE but ONLY if you can find one with 6 gigs of RAM which they literally do not sell anymore in some markets
At that size and price though you're really just better off going for the Magic Drawing Pad
The S9 FE exists but it's no longer 12.4" by default, you have to shell out an extra hundred or two bucks for the S9 FE+ for that size now which is a scam'

The apple pencil is good (but really fucking overpriced). It charges when you attach it to the ipad so it's not a hassle. Mine's never died on me. For drawing I'd avoid any iPad that uses the gen1 pencil (any iPad model with a lightning port and the latest regular iPad) because charging that is more of a hassle and it doesn't feel nice to hold. For animating I'd avoid any iPad that doesn't have an M chip processor because you'll want that processing power for making lengthy/complex animations.

The gen 2 pencil uses wireless charging that's easy to use and charges quickly, in my experience a single charge gives me 5-8 hours of drawing. Just slap it on the iPad whenever you use the washroom and when you get back you'll have at least an extra 90 minutes of juice.

A personal protip I tell everyone is that if you have an apple store nearby, buy one and a pencil from there and try it out for a week. As long as you don't break it, you can return it afterwards for a full refund, no questions asked. Then you can shop around for a cheaper used one.'

Also its pretty new device so no used ones to buy cheap.. Other option i see is cintiq 16, which i can get used in perfect condition for half the price of XP PEN. Im only worrying about screen AS i saw some photos of surface horibly scratched after just some months of use .
So my questions are; is pen wobble on XP PEN really that bad?
Would i need to install some pritective screen on cintiq to not scratch it? IF so which one is good ?

I have that one, paid the difference after my gen1 warranty return, which is well par for the course.
But desu gen1 build quality was atrocious, they tried to make it as thin a possible gladly they went back on that.
First off I don't have any wobble. The display colors are good and the pen is very precise without 'springiness" of previous generations/huion. I've stopped using it on my PC (went back to screenless) and instead for drawing on the couch.
What you have to keep in mind is the remote is separate and there's no buttons on the tablet. The remote also has just one wheel so you can't have instant access to brush size and zoom unless you map some buttons. You can configure the middle button to switch between zoom and brush size but it's not ideal either.
The screen itself is very good, comparable colors to a macbook pro.'

Does everyone just set smoothing to a million to deal with this? I really don't like pen smoothing. I know it's not my hands jittering because I can make slow, smooth lines vertically and horizontally, or in any direction on paper.

I've searched around and there a ton of people with this issue but everyone just seems... fine with it? It's driving me crazy. Some have speculated it's an issue with windows Ink compatibility but my pressure sense doesn't work without it. Anyone know of a way to fix this bullshit?'

I've tried it in PS/CSP/Paint and same results.

Is it possible there's some kind of screen protective coating that is making the surface slightly uneven? That would affect all lines though I figure, not just diagonal ones. I can still get smooth vertical/horizontal lines consistently with all the same settings.'

basing the entirety of what's better on cost is outing yourself as a poorfag. Sell 1 commission a year and pay for DuetDisplay.

Or just use Procreate on iPad like tons of real artists, one time $10 fee just like you love so much.

All android drawing software is ass compared to Procreate, and if you're just gonna say "WHAT ABOUT CSP ON ANDROID" then you're digging yourself back into the subscription hell you hate so much; not to mention the interface for CSP on android is absolute shite because they didnt design it for a tablet experience.

I have no dog in the Wacom vs Huion vs XP-Pen fight, as I only draw on my ipad. But I have owned a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and tried a ton of different android drawing software; its simply not as good as procreate on iPad.

you can bitch about the price all you want, or the need to charge the apple pencil (i've literally never once thought about the need to charge it since i just slap it on the side of my ipad when im done using it and it charges itself). The fact of the matter is the experience really is just better on iPad compared to android. When a decent procreate competitor comes out on Android I'll be first in line to buy a new Samsung tablet.'

I tried removing the screen protector and uninstalling all tablet drivers and reinstalling the xppen ones. Still happens. I double checked the screenless wacom and there actually is NO wobble, I guess I was just out of practice using the tablet without a screen, but with a ruler it made straight lines when I draw slowly.

It seems it's something to do with the XPPEN.

>>7137255
I am using the X3 elite plus pen that came with the tablet. It is the first gen XPPEN 16 pro, so yeah the 15.6in one. It's really frustrating and I've seen found other users complaining about this across many makes/models/brands and really the only answer 'that's just how they are.'

I've noticed that wobble is somehow related to the angle of the pen. The more perpendicular I hold the pen to the tablet, the less wobble I get, regardless of how hard I am pressing or the sens setting in the options. I have no idea where to go from here with that info. I swear there were some pen tilt settings in windows ink but i can't find that now.'

'My wacom CTH-680's pen tip no longer functions but the eraser side is working fine so I'd like to use it as the drawing tip. However, going into wacom's settings and configuring the eraser side as 'pen tip' still caused CSP to pick it up as an eraser. Even uninstalling all drivers and installing a new one (OpenTabletDriver) and setting the eraser side as 'button: pen tip' still registers as the eraser side in CSP. Tried going into CSP > modifier key settings > tail switch to 'none' but that just disables the use of the pen. pros:
-pro pen 3, with 3 buttons (this is lightyears better than apple pencil)

cons:
-slippery screen with anti-glare layer (compared to etched glass on pro cintiq with minimal parallax), reportedly doesn't feel like paper AND antiglare film nulifies any benefits of OLED
-tiny display that isn't much better than ipp, so that limits UI elements it can hold, making it useful at best for doodles and insignificant projects
-non-portable
-cintiq 16 is almost the same price but bigger display

the only real upside i see is the pro pen 3 integration.
owning intuos 4 large and IPP, i'd rather upgrade to cintiq pro lineup, even 17 at a crazy price would be better, but i'm happy with what i have'

It's not really parallax either. I'd more call it wrong tilt. You'd expect that when you tilt your pen the cursor stays at the point where the nib touches the surface.
This is however not how the hardware works because the coil is somewhere inside the pen. What would be needed is simple trigonometry that moves the cursor forward according to the length of the nib and the angle of tilt.
For some reason chink drivers do not to that, so it's not really parallax (which is related to the thickness of the glass) oh and all tablets have it to some extent.
That includes modern laminated displays where the glass directly touches the lcd that effect however is minuscule compared to the "wrong tilt"'
