Wasn't that their big pitch? You can buy perpetual licensees now, but they'll be updating versions more regularly, so you can buy subscription instead if that bothers you?
I'm just happy they still sell perpetual versions, though I'll probably only upgrade at v5 or something.'

Payment model aside my issue with Celsys is that they seem to be spreading themselves too thin and focusing way too much on 3D features and shitty bloat like posemaniacs integration and "artistic" filters. They literally haven't made a single update to the brush engine since 2.0, and not shown any interest in adressing the many years of complaints of the performance issues. 3.0 is a unjustified cashgrab.
The update pass could have been OK if they actually made a lot of improvements and useful new features. Instead, we arguably got one of the worst years of updates for CSP ever.'

They literally explained this shit when they were about to launch 2.0.
Unless they changed, the idea was to make 2.0 paid, then 2.X require a subscription, after a year period, all 2.X stuff would go free, and they'd release 3.0, after which the 3.X patches become subscription again.
TLDR: pay if you want latest patches, otherwise wait a year for them to roll out to the non-sub version.'

I don't use any of the new shit they add but What on earth drives you to see a software developer attempting to add value to their software in an attempt to incentivize continued payment and think "desperation"? Desperation is locking it all behind subscription models. They need a reason to not just fire all their staff, this is it.'

And krita is good but I can't get over the layer decisions and the fact that every single brush seems to be hyper soft.'
