I'm trying not to be condescending here, but can you explain what the fuck this means? You don't dictate what your recon units face, because if you did know what what they're going to face and where, to the extent that you can tailor their route to avoid things they cant handle; then recon is largely unnecessary. This bizarre western notion that recon vehicles should be lightly armed is nothing more than a concession to keep them fast, if you can maintain speed while having an autocannon then there is no reason not to have one for the sake of overmatch on enemy recon units.'

An underrated thing about these things is that they're great for security. Imagine encountering one of these things at, say, 1200 meters distance at dawn when you're a SOF patrol or an infantry platoon doing ambush/raiding/patrol/scout work in the enemy's rear. You pull an ATGM out of your ass before it can spot you and begin firing (it has thermals+LRF lmao). That's your option. There are no other options.'

You'll be very lucky to use this as a recon unit. You are not going to use it somewhere where it can regularly encounter MBTs and IFVs. You'll be using this where the biggest threat is infantry or other armored cars. Are you going to put a huge gun on every car just because there's 1% chance it can encounter a tank?'

Good for long-range + low logistical burden, so easy to deploy and keep in the field. Its why they're so popular in Africa, where theres a lot of ground to cover, and most cant really afford the logistical burden of keeping lots of tanks in the field for a long time. They mostly face infantry and technicals but they can take out tanks, theyre very good off road so idk where you get that from, look at how the saffers used the rooikat.'

It's for dictators too poor to afford a big army but smart enough to care about logistics n'shieet. Think small Arab countries and the Sahel region. When some rebels in a cinderblock compound get butthurt and shoot off AKMs, your troops need something fast, reliable, and uncomplicated to help them, because they're not exactly highly trained, motivated, or willing to die in an even fight. These cannon-cars are easier to maintain than tanks, cheap, bulletproof, quick enough to respond in time, and they can safely and cheaply blow up cinderblock buildings. They're the modern version of an assault gun, specifically for killing militias.'
