>and it's a shitty one
But also was kinda including that under "bad parts and make them worse", the flow does spark somewhat on SBRs the way most titanium cans do, and it does require a proprietary attachment (one of a couple of their muzzle devices). But hux's ones are actually quite good, even if ideally they'd be open, and CAT does almost as well with HUB compatible options. Surefire took the proprietary thing, but then reduced options, made it far shittier, and had the thing be an actual fireball with wrong device not just some sparking.

Frankly though not really surprised, kinda feels like this is how a lot of big old companies go particularly with government contracts. They come up with something quite good at one point with real engineers, and maybe iterate it some, but at some point they go into milking mode and stop further innovation and indeed lose the institutional ability to do so. High performing people leave, MBAs take over more and more, and gradually competitors catch up, and then blaze right past them. Then they're coasting on brand, memes, and contracts.'

No, you're retarded for not understanding how any of this works. The maximum theoretically possible perfect earpro is around 40dB at ~2kHz. Doubling up does not help with this at all. In practice nobody achieves that, NRR ratings top out around 32, and that still requires perfect fit and no mistakes. An unsuppressed SBR like being tested here has a peak around 171 dB. Even with the best earpro, you're getting a lot of noise exposure if you shoot it much, particularly indoors or around any other hard surfaces. Suppressors double up perfectly because they're reducing base noise. Taking off 40-60 is much better then 20-40. On top of that:
- This is worst case. It'll be much quieter with the 16"+ barrels most have.
- Some people care about home defense not just range toys. Maybe you have earpro on hand and time to put it on, maybe not. Even for a few shots, going down to 140 something is better for you then 170+.
- Some people rarely or never use ranges, but shoot on their own or public land. Suppressors are polite/needed with neighbors and other users.
- Some people go hunting with dogs. It's still too loud ideally, but it's much better. Like giving the dog basic earpro.

This is all frankly pretty obvious stuff to anyone who shoots outdoors. That it never occurred to you says more about you then anything.'

lol wut. They didn't even have eForms for this stuff until last year. Feds have actually done a ton of modernizing on the web last few years, with unified modern login and such.

More importantly, site also has nothing to do with the backend which is what actually matters, but the ATF doing electronic anything for the NFA isn't remotely decades old. We're not talking finance/taxes or air traffic control or whatever where they started on IBM mainframes 50 years ago.

Guess sure, in principle nothing for sure prevents it from going up again, but it's been like two months at this point since times plummeted and unlike last time it's held, the flood of demand hasn't overwhelmed the system at all. And the longer that goes on the more people will come to expect it. The change they made to double FIFO seems like a fundamentally good one.'
