nubby rat trap style pedals are good because you can move your feet around easily. retention failure is largely a skill issue.'

no, but I would pay the 50usd it cost to get a nice 80's road bike instead of riding that clunker.
>>1992114
Try em all. They all do the job and you can get good hamstring, calf, and glute engagement with whatever pedal you have. Just need to get good with it.
I like pinned flats since I can wear almost any shoe. clipless shoes can fit funky and cost a fortune.'

Before half way decent sneakers with SPD were a thing I was always on cages with straps. Eventually I fitted the hipster style straps with MTB pedals to some bikes and quite liked that too. Those decisions were simply for the fact that I like to choose my footwear and not have my bikes dictate it.
But since decent footwear with SPD is available almost all my bikes are equipped SPD. That did wonders for my knees, improved cornering / less pedal strike on evasive maneuvers and so on. Yes the SPD pedals still sacrifice a bit of the versetality single sided toe cage pedals offer and I keep a few bikes outfitted like that.
Now theres one thing I wouldn't ever touch let alone ride: No foot retention. Like ewwww WTF BRO !?'

With clips.
I ride everything with clips, even my downhill bike.
How can you manage to keep your feet on the pedals if you send a rock garden at 20mph+? Exactly you dont. If you want to be fast and play with the big boys you gotta have clips.'

Clickies and clicks are common terms. Obviously their origin is onomatopoeic. And as such those terms are widely understood and an accepted alternative to 'clipless'.
Now the thing is: Why again are (((you))) using the term 'clips' 3 times in your post while completely avoiding terms like 'clickies' or 'clipless' only to later try and make it look like people younare insulting were trying to make an effort to read you wrong ?
You sure do realise the effort you're putting into constructing your alternative reality only so you can avoid realising a mistake ?'
