- Use a hammoc and picrel (piton) rather than a sleeping bag. Cold, hard stone is insanely terrible to sleep on. Nothing like grass or even dirt.
- Use waders !! (decathlon's are field-tested). It's fine to use pants for a day but for 7 days it's ridiculous. Plus no chance your shoes survive that long if you both swim and crawl, which you will (i've destroyed several). Just remove the waders when sleeping, or when going outside or whatever
- Yellow LED is better than white LED, lantern is better than flashlight, candles are comfy too
- You have to consider boredom. Your pic says you're aiming for GRS, which is good because it has plenty of people to meet with (at night). Just go share a some weed, a beer, a fondue, it's a very normal thing to do. I get that you planned to stay alone, but darkness and no sound from anywhere beside your steps get lonely quick
- You shouldn't force yourself to stay isolated or carry 7 days of food/water. Maybe it sounds cool from afar, but really it's like challenging yourself to live 7 days in a sewer drinking filtered sewer water.
Overall you'll have a 10x better time carrying beer and sausage around, sharing it with others who will share you spots and stuff.
There's plenty of ways to make this memorable and people have stayed in the GRS sometimes 60+ days, but don't challenge yourself to ALWAYS AT ALL COSTS stay underground. You're not a youtuber doing a challenge';

You'll meet people with carbide lamps and it is indeed cool but absolutely optional. What i meant by lantern is something you can place on a table and have everything lit rather than something you'll put in the corner, that will blind people and create unpractical shadows. Yellow is comfort, I guess, but it costs nothing and the difference is huge. It's hard to explain but white just feels temporary and cold. It's impossible to make any place look comfy using white LEDs.

I’ve never been in the catacombs, but generally rats do stay in sewers in the winter, ostensibly because it’s warmer underground. Unfortunately /out/ is completely unaware as to how to deal with rodents (the assumption on the board is that bears are the only threat to food, and rodents don’t exist in the wild, despite what many have witnessed first hand).

Ursack makes bear and critter proof bags, and they’re probably the most popular brand. Armored Outdoor Gear makes one specifically for rodents, called the RatSack. Odd that they make something specifically for rodents since bears are the only threat, right?. The Ursacks are very expensive because they’re bear proof, while the RatSack is much cheaper but still pricey.

You might be able to get away with a hard plastic case. A cloth bag won’t cut it.';

Acktchually the number of rats is surprisingly low, but not due to a lack of food or water. It’s mostly due to access. Every storm drain leads into a sewer, and it’s very easy for rats to nest in one to escape the cold. They absolutely would do the same in the catacomb (it’s an ossuary, not a catacomb, and 99% of it is really an old quarry with no remains at all, pic rel) but there aren’t many easy entryways, even for rats.
