'I've always used the good old purple Meths. In every kind of alcohol stove, be it a Ti one, Trangia or ones I've made.

I'm from the uk. I get a 5L bottle of ebay for about £20, I then load a 500ml trangia fuel bottle as needed. In local hardware shops a 500ml bottle costs about £5.

One thing I'd add. NEVER use white sprit or as its called in some places mineral spirit. It doesn't but hot and just covers everything in lots and lots of soot.'

Just buy Everclear if legal and availale. You can drink it and it burns well without much soot.'

I've never heard this trick, how does it keep the soot down? By keeping it below a certain temperature or just thinning it out a bit?'

I ended up getting the Trangia instead of a titanium one.'
