As someone who read a lot of NanoFate, I was actually so excited to find out Mekimeki was doing Toki, made it a lot more exciting cause I knew they did yuri stuff already.

When you think about it, creating this spinoff and expanding her world and story through a flashback seems like a waste cause you already know she will lose, but I am thoroughly enjoying Toki despite that. The Toki we know now is a lot more jaded and sickly, but her gusty attitude is something that was there from the beginning.

The Saki world has established that north Osaka has the strongest individuals in the Kansai region and it's nice seeing how that came to be. Despite them not actually having monster-like abilities save for Toki, Ryuuka and Fujishiro so far, they are a lot more normal compared to the rest of the country's super powers.

Sera and Hiroe's relationship was also very interesting, I've caught up to the main Saki manga before reading Toki so I didn't know the history those two had, but now their actions especially Sera makes a lot more sense now, shame they didn't stick together.
