'Splitgate is crashes on startup like 1 out of 8 times but other than that it has solid map design and the gunplay and guns themselves just feel like Halo. It's basically Reach with portal guns. I think it was one of the more underrated shooters to come out because the graphics just aren't good and there's no campaign or anything but the gameplay is really fun if you just want a shooter. Also I'll play with you if you are on PlayStation because my friends think I need to buy literally every fucking game they do but won't try this for me which is free.';
'It's nowhere near the same, but my primary FPS has been The Finals recently. No movement flow in the same sense but destruction and clever gadget use can tickle the part of your brain that likes traversal and fights can be fast paced and chaotic.
I know what you asked for but looking for a lively arena FPS is a pretty hopeless battle. We almost got something casual-friendly with Titanfall but Respawn brutally ripped out the arena part of that game in the third entry rather than iterate upon it and chance a dedicated movement shooter being accessible enough to be genuinely popular.';

If you want Quake, the only viable options are literally just Champions and Live. In general, if you want to play an Arena FPS, you are more than likely going to have to organize games yourself or join a

I never played it, but Splitgate is also a good choice. On Steam it has about the same number of players as the Quake games, but you can definitely get some matches since it's crossplay. The devs are also making a sequel for it so, it might be worth playing in the future.';

Quake champions has a small community, enough for duels and instagib; and bots are fun if you're not a total tryhard.
But my current obsession is The Finals.
Its not a typical arena fps, but its DIFFERENT enough to be interesting.
Only issue is it has a minority of CODfag TTV zoomers insisting on nerfing anything that is outside their limited skill base of left clicking heads.
Interestingly tho, it has a lot of other genre fans beyond the loud cod minority.
Arena fps gamers are very prominent, along with movement shooter fans (Apex/TF2) gamers and even a subset of hero shooter fans (overwatch & team fortress) due to the team play.
Its fun, has lots of potential if they stick to the original concept.';
