Really put your energy into the cards. I like to shuffle them, even spread them all out on my table and mix them up like dominoes, while I think about what I want know.... insight into career, relationship, or just a general reading, etc. I speak aloud about this intention. Of course it doesn't, it's basic math. If you have high resistance to a concept, say "I will win the lottery tomorrow for a billion dollars" or "my SP who is angry with me for something I said and in a stable relationship right now will choose me over the other person", then your trance state will lower that resistance level by a fixed amount based on how deep you get. Light trance? You may only see a small drop in resistance. Deep trance? You may see half or more of the resistance gone. The fact that it's a fixed amount means that if you are only a little resistant to something just a light trance is required.

The other ingredient is belief/faith/certainty. You lower your resistance so that the amount of belief you have is sufficient. You still need belief to do it, simply going into SATS and imagining stays as a fantasy until you believe it "real." That's a safety mechanism so you don't manifest everything that crosses your mind.
