Anyone who knows anything will tell you boxing is the most effective tool, the easiest thing you can learn to give you basic self defence skills, and the only thing that will let you ko multiple people if luck and skill is on your side

Wrestling is the second line of defence though, if an attacker gets past your fists and grabs you.

Bjj/submissions are the emergency when you are mounted and have run out of options/ need to restrain someone without hitting them'

>Anyone who knows anything will tell you boxing is the most effective tool
I prefer kickboxing or muay thai
>the easiest thing you can learn to give you basic self defence skills
I'm not sure. Theoretically boxing is easier than wrestling/grappling but there's a higher chance that a random guy can guard up and punch you back than sprawl.
>and the only thing that will let you ko multiple people if luck and skill is on your side
I don't think relying on luck this much is a good idea. 800 meters run is probably the best art you can learn to protect yourself from multiple opponents.'

kickboxing and muay thai is okay in the ring with shorts if you like to fight defensively, not so great on the street wearing jeans or in confined/ concrete spaces, when a 1-2 sucker punch would work best and be quicker in self defence.
plus the time you spend learning kicks, elbows, clinch, knees, and hands, you will learn all those to a low level. train just hands for a year you will punch well.

>I'm not sure. Theoretically boxing is easier than wrestling/grappling but there's a higher chance that a random guy can guard up and punch you back than sprawl.

thats why you have power and size and knock them out first. if they can guard up they can probably outwrestle you and in multiple person situations youd be fucked anyway. or if you can wrestle you better pray you get that takedown otherwise youll just get knocked out/ kicked

I don't think relying on luck this much is a good idea. 800 meters run is probably the best art you can learn to protect yourself from multiple opponents.

yeah fighting even two capable people who want to hurt you if basically a death wish unless you get lucky like in OP and manage very swift surprise KO's'

Kickboxing / muay thai is at least marginally worse for self-defence because having to deal with knees and kicks from a skilled opponent means you train head movement and footwork less. If you get assaulted by some random dipshit on the street bobbing and weaving is one of the most effective things you can do to avoid damage. Especially the dutch style guard is reliant on the glove to protect the face. People who say you cannot kick yourself are wrong though. It can be risky but it is still effective saying you cannot kick on da streetz is obviously a myth.'

Right answer.
If you train for self Defence learn striking and grappling, apart regularly and lift weights'

What if you kick someone before he's close enough to punch you? If someone tries to superman punch you or do some very aggressive greco roman, a teep to the solar plexus can end the fight before it begins. If he's a bit more refined, a teep can still be useful to keep the distance. A nak muay may not have as good footwork as a boxer but average person will have no footwork at all after getting low kicked by him once or twice. If you live in France, you can also think about savate. They fight in shoes because it was a self defence art at the beginning. Their knee kicks can be a scary weapon in a street fight.'

This dude's a cunt. The other guys are deescalated as fuck, and he literally turns his back on them, and then proceeds to make a 180 turn just to elevate a regular sucker punch into a SUPER sucker punch.

I mean, if he had simply punched them while he was yelling in their face, that would have been bad enough, but he turned his back just to make it even LESS telegraphed? What kind of sociopathic shit is that lmao'
