I'm just getting started with kettlebells but just grabbing a single 16kg/35 lb bell and doing snatches and cleans is great.

I was looking for a cardio that had enough overlap with the strength I've already built up and it's nice and challenging without leading to fatigue accumulation.

16 kg single arm is still a novel stimulus to me, and currently cleans/presses/squats with dual 50 lbs is the main working meat.

Progress isn't as easy as adding 5 lbs each time and then doing some assistance work, but generally you increase the intensity by resting less between reps, or getting as many repetitions in a set period of time. Look up free programs, dry fighting weight by greg neupert is free and while boring, wants two kettlebells you can press 5x overhead.'

Kettlebells are pretty good for accessory work, but are also kind of expensive for what they are compared to plain old 1 and 2 inch weights and bars and shit.

If you already have a home gym and you want some, go for it, and if you've got a membership at a gym with some, use them of course, but I'd recommend that someone buy a complete set of barebell weights to 5pl8, a cage, a bench, and a pair of 20 inch dumbell bars and 160 lbs of plates for the dumbell bars before they buy a bunch of kettle bells.'

Nothing different than what you can do with DBs.

I guess swings and one arm OHP, but you can do that with DBs. You can also get a handle that will attach to your DBs so you can grip it like a kettlebell.'

I wouldn't trust these. They feel like shit. Ignore what anyone said about doing swings with dumbells that's a good way to go to snap city or fling a dumbell through your walls.

Buy a 16 kg and 20 kg kettlebell. These will be enough for you for months if you've never done kettlebells before. For the time being, practice doing swings with the 16 kilos.

Do 5 sets of 10 at least three times a week for a start. Build up until you're able to do at least 10 x 10 swings a session 3 times a week with that weight, then move on to the 20 kilos.

At that point you can start messing around with learning cleans with the 16.

Sessions shouldn't be exhausting. Don't go to failure. You should still feel fresh after.'

They make decent adjustables now that go 12-32kg, a pair of those will last your entire life. If you go thr static route then one 16kg, one 24kg and (eventually) one 32kg is all you really need.
Dan John and Mark Wildman have good programs. Pavel Tsatsouline's stuff is a bit too minimalist for my liking, but aren't bad.'

This.
I've found that most kettlebells aren't very ergonomic and terrible for your wrists. Dumbbell swings feel like a more natural grip, especially if your dumbbells have a rubber coating on the ends to reduce slip, otherwise there's a higher risk that you'll be retarded and accidentally throw the dumbbell through your wall or whatever else is in front of you. If you're worried about that just stick to a kettlebell I guess.'

Kettlebells are completely sub-par compared to dumbbells. The only reason they're a thing is because in Russia, they weren't at the economic and industrial level to produce good dumbbells at scale, so resorted to re-purposing existing cannon ball production with an added handle for kettlebells.
They are simply an improvised sub-par product that somehow became a fitness meme.'

As long as you're comfortable that kettlebell work isn't body-building, I'd highly recommend it for general strength and conditioning. Practise your swing, clean, press, and your squat of choice. Check out youtube videos for advice, I'd recommend Mark Wildman; straight feet autism aside his videos are top-notch instruction.

Here's one of Pavel's books; if you can read past his schtick the actual information is legit and won't steer you wrong: http://library.deep-blue-sea.net/Exercise/Pavel%20Tsatsouline%20-%20Enter%20The%20Kettlebell!%20Strength%20Secret%20of%20The%20Soviet%20Supermen%20(2006,%20Dragon%20Door%20Publications).pdf'

'Not ideal for bodybuilding and isolating muscles but great for general fitness and very fun.

Double clean, press and squat to pack on some mass. You can even curl and overhead tricep extension.

Swings are goat for general fitness, posterior chain development, cardio.

Lots of very fun lifts to keep you interested like snatches. Many complexes as well (combination of a few different kb movement done in a row). Look up dan john armor building complex.

It is the ideal tool to add to a calisthenics routine since it is harder to build legs on a strictly bodyweight routine.'

To gain size and strength kettlebells aren’t optimal, but you can still use them for it.
You just need to go with higher reps and complexes will give you good results.

A
2x24kg
Clean and press 10
Front squat 15
Single leg deadlift 15
Pull ups till failure
Repeat 3 times

B
1x24
Snatches 10
Jumping lunges 10
Swings 50
Hindu push-ups toll failure
Repeat 3 times

It’s a workout I realy like'
