Story is kinda shit, some chapters are neat in the same way a mid TV show can have a good episode but the our protag's motivation is really weak. Hometown gets massacred by some thug, go kill that thug, right, makes sense. But the guy that ordered it is so distant he can never realistically be involved in the story. So once that is done, all that remains is "hurr durr i want that sword my dad was working on" even though the guy the sword is for says he has like 100 and doesn't care, so that feels incredibly contrived. And then that gets resolved in the first third of the game also. The rest is just kinda meandering from random assignment to random assignment until the game ends.

Searching for treasure is somewhat fun but the game can't reward you with much more than money and shit you sell for money. I had the absolute best gear 1/3 through the game just because i did sidequests as they appeared.';

Most players play essentially the same character, who makes roughly the same decisions, with the cosmetic change of being a different class and using different skills. Your roleplay is going college but changing your major. But if you were to really roleplay you'd have to make decisions according to some made up principles and ideals of your character; roleplaying as introverted character means you can't start a conversation with a named NPC drunkard screaming on the side of the road, that questline is not for this character. In RPGs your character has no personality and inconsistent principles. We all know this. I wonder if ancient RPG gamers had different approach to roleplaying in vidya, as they came from pen&paper sessions with different kind of roleplaying. Had a blast stealing items from parties, getting stalked by Scouts while I was on the run, breaking into cities with my bird thief, and backstabbing clothies. The full looting mechanics of dead players and being able to steal specific items from players was a mechanic I've never seen in another game. Had great late nights as a teen where I got a rush stealing Godlike runes and competing with rune hunters in the wild. Getting DMs cursing me out was based as fuck.

The closest game I've seen so far in todays world is Dark and Darker that has these rogue features. Is there any other game where I can play a complete piece of shit?
