The whole idea behind RPGMaker is that it's braindead easy to use, but also rather limited. Hence, it draws in writers and artists who would never be able to make a game otherwise. Anyone interested in making a more complex combat system would likely have the skills/autism necessary to use a different engine. Hence, the most common type of games being created, and consequently, the type of games people started to associate with RPGMaker, are artsy walking sims. If you want a game with a deep combat system then this is not the engine to look for.

First, you really need to take a pass through for grammatical errors. They're frequent and stand out like a sore thumb in contrast to the Victorian propriety the game leans into. Second, the tone is inconsistent, and the changes are jarring. In one scene you're describing the horrors of the world and in the next the MC is saying "not gonna lie". You can do levity while keeping it high and tight.

They definitely can. There are a good number of horror games that have them. But these tend to be simpler without combat, and things like Bloodlines had designated Sound Designers like Rik Schaffer. This game has different music for combat and overworld, so it's a matter of the dev getting its shit together before adding more special effects.
