For a normal sized ~4lb rabbit:
1/8 cup oxbow pellets in the morning
1/8 cup oxbow pellets in the evening
Unlimited hay all day, tossed into their shitboxes. I live in an area where I can just buy haybales, if I didn't I would buy timothy hay (again oxbow).
In the evening about an hour after pellets I give salad, roughly 1 cup of greens per bun. Usually half a head of romaine per rabbit because romaine is pretty well liked but not too sugary erc.
This is the agreed on rabbit nerd diet and feeding schedule, I don't think you'll find experienced rabbiters deviating much from this.


Parsley and cilantro are the other favorite mainstays salads but I will occasional give other types of greens like collard greens, spring mix, spinach. Those other greens aren't as popular and some like spinach or kale need to be given sparingly.
Then before bed I might give a treat. Little carrot bit, apple, banana, and papaya tablets are my go to. Usually depends on what is in the house since I will eat the remainder of the fruit. All of these are one small piece that you could balance on a finger.

Unless you have young rabbit kits you shouldn't be using alfalfa as the main pellet. It is too rich/fattening.';

Your dad is misinformed. They have zero need to go outside if they are free roam buns inside, and depending on you area, being outside can be dangerous. It only takes a few seconds for a hawk to scoop them up. Or they could run into wild, disease ridden buns (a very common way for them to catch diseases and infections that cause torticollis). If you can provide a safe space outside for them, it's great and they'll (usually*) enjoy it immensely though.

If your landlord allows it and isn't a bastard that charges monthly fees to keep pets, if your living conditions are good, if you have full control over the temperature with heating and a/c, if your neighbors aren't too loud, and if you can share enough space with your buns, then yes. Apartments are actually ideal. Gonna go out on a limb and guess you don't have kids, which is also a good thing. If you live alone and work a traditional job, consider getting 2 bonded buns so they have company while you're out of the house.';

Where did you get it from? As long as it's in a bag or box made of paper or cardboard, or at least otherwise has holes for airflow, that should fend off mold pretty well. You'd likely see or smell it if mold did start developing too. Being in an outdoor shed doesn't really make matters worse in that regard. What I would be more wary of is other critters getting in to it.';

Look closely at the bag, it may have holes or slits cut into it that may be hard to see. I get the 6 lb. bags from Chewy and that is the case with them, so I don't know about the proper sized bales. You can probably cut holes in it yourself, or just ditch the bag and plop the bale in the box as long as it's sanitized. Cardboard should be breathable enough to circulate air.';
