My sister also came by and claimed that she must have tremendous trust in me. Honestly, it's a weird feeling. Like everytime I move away from the box with the children, she gets nervous, drops her children and follows after me. She wasn't like that before, she always demanded attention once she got a bigger belly and I gave it to her. The day before birth, she wanted me around 24/7, urging me to lay next to her and just cuddle her.

It's super cute but also exhausting since I spend most of my vacation now sitting on the ground next to the package box with the children, cause otherwise I fear the kittens won't get enough attention. I hope it stops after everything is said and done. I want my cats to love me, but not obsess over me'

'Help needed.

I have a 1 year old unneutered male cat. For the most part he has been a fun, affectionate and playful cat. He is indoor-outdoor; we let him outdoors during the day, but always try to make sure he's locked inside before night time. There have been nights where I couldn't find him before night falls, and I have to either wait for him to come back, or find him on some neighbor's property, sometimes confronting another cat. He has a decent amount of scratch marks and some bite wounds from these occasions.

When he is kept inside at night, he usually spends an hour or so begging to be let outside before calming down and going to sleep. But lately he's been extremely restless at night. Constant meowing lasting for hours on end, including those deep weird sounding meows. He is relentless in looking for ways to get out, from begging at the door to trying to break down the barrier I set up that blocks an exit gap in the garage. Usually when he's restless like this I try to play with him and wear him out, but he's not playing with anything. He won't chase the string or shoelace anymore, won't try to wrestle with the other cat we have, won't even play with some loose cable ties. His sole desire is going outside at night.

Is there anything I can do to calm him down? Before anyone suggests it, I am planning on neutering him on tuesday in an effort to calm him down. The only reason I haven't done so yet is laziness, and he hasn't been pissing in the house like unneutered males supposedly do.'

Trap and neuter is a great idea.
The release part is a horrible fucking idea.

They still have outdoor cat lifespans and outdoor cat health and still do outdoor cat things like spread parasites and disease via their feces and routine physical contact. To date absolutely no one has been able to give every cat the standard of care a pet would receive or contain all of the released ferals in their own little area, so well behaved backyard-only cats are getting FIV and fleas from the shits and pregnant women keep getting toxo because they touched dirt.

Then someone sees all the cats roaming around and dumps a few oops litters with their own kind and the cycle restarts. We've gotten nowhere. The TNR colonies need to be fenced in and the cats cared for properly, at least.'

For example he'll pace around my bed meowing while purring, and the fact that his meow sounds so sad it makes me think it's a stress purr. But then after a bit he'll get comfy and let me pet him while kneading. He used to do this before, but didn't combine it with the meowing, I just don't get it.

I thought he just might want to play, so I've tried playing enough to wear him out, but I've played with him a lot today and he's still doing the meowing. I figured maybe it was him wanting me to get out of bed to play, because he seemed hyper (stretching a lot, scratching his posts tons) but I honestly have no clue. I also think I've made a mistake by rewarding the meowing with attention, I guess, but he just sounds so sad. I know I'm dumb.

I would, if the cats lived in a 99% non urbanized place.
Sadly their life is at risk here, they share the habitat with uncaring humans driving cars like crazy, cutting grass and trees therefore reducing their sources of food, and so on.
Controlling the number of births is the right thing.

Maybe you live in a shithole and you're used to having them. Not applicable to my area.

False equivalency

Cats are not wildlife. They are not wild animals. They do not belong outside, and the moment humans vanish domestic cat populations rightfully collapse.

They are antithetical to the ecosystem's function unless you're one of those "mass extinctions are NATURAL bro" midwits who never got that conservations point was maintaining a relatively pre-human ecosystem so we can exploit it perpetually and prosper, not so we can watch the great dying in real time.

I mix and match tiki cat, weruva, and bff depending on what's available at my pet store

Tiki cat is top tier but expensive. I only really buy it for the small cans though just to avoid having to put a half a can of food in the fridge overnight since my cat doesn't like eating cold food.

Weruva and bff are both just different labels under the same brand, and they also use good ingredients with no crap fillers. Weruva is better but more expensive, bff is cheaper but it's mostly all fish ingredients which I try to avoid feeding too much of to my cat.

Establishing a good variety of ingredients in your cat's food is really good to help avoid pickiness.

>>4773740
Fancy feast isn't even that bad honestly from what I've looked up about it. Not great, but it's at least usually the best thing you can find in a superstore. Weed is free. That's why it's called weed, you can grow a shitton anywhere in a very short period of time. Catnip doesn't actually have any significant pharmacological effects. Cannabis that's CBD dominant or 50/50 does, just not ones that are considered functional for humans because of our brains complex and slow development and tendency to use its body to operate heavy machinery.

The CBD and THC are both anti-inflammatory and immuno-suppressants, and the THC relieves pain and prevents vomiting. Obviously don't give your cat a recreational dose or smoke it yourself, 0.15g and you gotta check out for the day.

Are some cats just naturally bitchy and pissed off, or did I fuck up raising her? It's pretty heartbreaking to have something you love be a fucker to you and not be able to tell you where or when you went wrong'

Moms teach their babies a lot, not only how to eat and hunt for food but also socialization.

'A while ago we gave my cat a flea treatment. We normally use the tablets, but this time we used the one you drip liquid between the shoulder blades. Around this time we also changed to a different variety of food. Since then she has developed a fair amount of small scabs distributed over her body, lost a small patch of fur on her side, and has been overgrooming so there are thin hair areas. She's also lost a bit of weight, though she is by no means a thin cat.

We suspect it might be an allergic reaction to either the flea treatment or the food. We've ordered some hypoallergenic better quality food. We've booked her in to see the vet soon. I'm very worried about her, and I am hoping it is something simple to address and solve. She seems fine in herself - if anything more loving than normal - but the scabs being all over (ears/throat/sides/legs/back) would make me think it is a skin based ailment rather than internal organ based (I hope).

Anyone had this before or knows what it could be?'

'My cat has had pneumonia for the second time in 4 months. My vet says the prognosis isn't looking great. He's on antibiotics, I'm giving them to him orally two times a day. It feels like I'm torturing him. I'm starting to feel like it's time to put him down even though he's acting somewhat like his normal self. He's not eating as much, even with an appetite enhancer, and is already pretty skinny from his last bout with it.

Is there anything else I can do? Should I just bite the bullet?'

The over-grooming is probably due to the scabs itching, and probably all her skin even where you don't see visible scabs. Do what you can to brush her, carefully so as not to make the situation worse. You might be able to relieve some of her itching.

One of my cats developed a few small areas similar to what you describe, nothing nearly so serious sounding. I was able to rub a few drops of quality extra virgin olive oil into these small patches and it seemed to help a lot. She was annoyed by the oil and tried to constantly lick it off, but I carefully used small amounts every day on some of the worse spots and everything eventually cleared up after a couple months.

Your case sounds much more severe and a vet visit is definitely in order. Yes, it does sound like an allergic reaction, but let your vet develop an opinion. The flea med could definitely be it, depending on the exact brand and what concentration you used (it would be unusual, but possible). Food allergies are also possible, and you may even be in a situation were both worked together to make your poor kitty miserable.

Give her lots of skritchies & brush her out as much as she tolerates, try to stimulate & clean her skin beneath the fur without causing more irritation or damage. Olive oil a couple small patches she can't lick easily and watch for improvement, even better if you can do that for a week or so before the vet so the vet can give an opinion on that by being able to examine treated & untreated patches.'
