Couple of guys from my town did it, using a K11 Micra

Hot, dusty, terrible roads. Some locals were good, some locals were unfriendly, a lot of the other racers would refuse to help you.
Their car was also stripped off its radio, camping equipment, radio and wheels at some point while being shipped back to Norway'

That's cool. Did they enjoy it at least? Looks like fun
Is there a "type" of person that enrolls in these things? like are they all /o/ types or travel people or bored college students with extra cash?'

It was definitely an experience for them, especially seeing as neither really had much experience with mechanical stuff or offroad-driving

You'd have the "bored college student"-type, but alot of those never finish due to breakdowns caused by improper/lack of maintenance & inability to repair, well-off older folks who do it every time, and a good few "motoring enthusiasts" who do it as a once-in-a-lifetime thing'

That sounds like a good mix of people

good job on them. What do you think set them apart from the other inexperienced drivers who didn't finish?
I don't have any mechanical skill outside of helping dad fix the car. This seems tight as fuck though I'd try my best if it meant adventure'

>good job on them. What do you think set them apart from the other inexperienced drivers who didn't finish?
No major malfunction on the car (biggest issue was a failing MAF so it was a bit low on power towards the end), and a properly serviced cooling system. If I recall correctly they also had the tires replaced with some C-class tires (meant for vanas) as they have steel cord and are way tougher. Rally tires would probably be the absolute best, but I'm unsure if they are allowed in the rules of the rally'

You typically cuddled up with your mate for warms, and also you can help take care of each other's needs.
Swapping mates is expected, and you should be prepared to let everyone have a go. Its tradition.'
