'>>4296944
I question pentax’s love of reflex when they really just tried and failed to sell mirrorless cameras, but their older SLRs like the k10d are good deals for destitute newbies. Better than buying a flimsy micro four thirds. Too bad anything newer or FF is hideously overpriced for being somewhat shit - due to youtubers, probably. Like that asian who fakes dynamic range tests.';
'>>4296944
they should go full retard and get into the digital range finder business. if they don't they're just dead';
'>>4296996
They’re going to go full retard and try and re-produce their old film cameras because they cant do whats right (make DSLRs with the sensor plane back where the film plane used to be and a whole fucking 35mm sensor for PDAF)
tech IS there but it would be expensive';
'why are you guys talking as if Pentax is a legitimate business. They're just a hobby division of Ricoh, funded by the GR3 sales';
'>>4296999
>DSLRs with the sensor plane back where the film plane used to be
It is there, retard. What was the last time you needed an adapter to use a 35mm lens on the same mount DSLR?';
'>>4297029
>being this dumb
DSLRs are oversized pieces of shit because the front of the mount and sensor plane are shifted forward in the chassis. A bunch of garbage electronics and screen junk are piled up behind the sensor. FIlm cameras were more compact because the only thing behind the film plane was a few mm of steel.
Let's not even get stared on the ergonomic horror of putting buttons on the side of the mirror box (that now protrudes 3x more than it should)';
'>>4296987
>the k10d are good deals for destitute newbies
Too bad any of the decent lenses aren't.';
'>>4297030
>using the back of the camera as your reference point for the focal plane
Full retard, it's the rest of the camera that is measured against the mount not the other way round.
You can't have the needed electronics without stuffing some behind the sensor. My EOS 30 and my EOS 100D (aka SL1) are roughly the same thickness from the mount. My full frame DLSR bodies are just slightly thicker, not relevant at all in real use.
/p/ is a board for spergs to sperg about non-issues, this is even more ridiculous than the K-1 II seething.';

>What's that?

The k1ii’s a genuinely awful camera and kaf4 lenses are genuinely bad. Its really rare for FF gear to actually be shit but pentax pulled it off. Just but a 5d classic. Its actually a better camera.';

needs highlight reconstruction, the sky reflection in the puddle is fucked
>I don't even know what I'm supposed to do with raw development software
less is more
enable chroma noise reduction, highlight reconstruction, sigmoid tonemapping
also just turn on all lens corrections unless it looks worse that way
then just play with exposure and ignore everything else
once you're comfortable doing that then try use the tone equalizer to massage the tonemapping curve (RT implements it in the HSV equalizer)
then after that you can play with color correction (again HSV equalizer in RT, separate module in DT)

It takes a number of shots at -1 , 0 and +1 EV (or -2, +2, if you do 5 shots) You can then either combine them in post to get better DR or you can just pick whichever looks the best if you're not sure what you want your exposure to be.
I used to do it a lot when I first started, but then I realized it just took forever to cull and it was never really that helpful when I could just move my exposure by that much anyway with my raws.';

'>>4299341

'>>4297946
alright, played with these earlier this week but didn't have time to post anything
disclaimer I use darktable, RT terminology/modules will be different
this is a comparison of >>4297646 on the top left, >>4297648 on the top right, my basic typical edit on the bottom left, and a more involved edit to push sky saturation on the bottom right
I typically go for a pretty minimal edit myself, with just technical and tone curve adjustments, just my taste
that's what I did on the bottom left, first applied my current standard profile then tweaked a little
current profile:
>sigmoid tonemapping
>as-shot white balance (I always use daylight in-camera WB aka neutral, even under tungsten)
>in-camera exposure adjust compensation
>highlight reconstruction
>hot pixel correction
after that I added lens correction (all three distortion+vignetting+latCA because landscape), and pulled down the sky exposure with the tone equalizer
then to tweak it closer to what appears your taste, I adjusted chroma +9% shadow saturation -30% highlight saturation +38%
on the bottom right, I started with my basic profile + lens correction again
then I added three separate tone equalizers with masks:
>mid-tone pull-up, gradient mask on snow
>mid-high-tone pull-down, gradient mask on sky
>mid-low-tone pull-up, bezier mask on buildings & left foreground vegetation
then I cranked up the global saturation +88%, multi-part mask: gradient on sky and beziers on the bigger puddles to match';
'>>4299446
forgot to mention I also bumped the exposure +2EV on the first edit +1EV on the second
I feel more comfortable pulling highlights rather than pushing shadows in the tone equalizer, but that's just preference again
anyways second photo
you didn't post "unedited", so top middle is what the RAW looks like when I import it into darktable (I turned off all the default defaults so I start all photos with as much a clean slate as possible)
bottom left is your edit, bottom right is mine
once again default profile applied, +2EV, and all lens corrections
again pulling down the highlights (sky) by -0.93EV ~ -1.55EV depending on the part of the curve
finally shadow saturation -43%, highlight saturation +61%
>>4298085
explain the difference first
>>4299066
personally haven't found much use for exposure bracketing, like >>4299339 said I get enough DR from the raws it doesn't really help
